I think I would have become a complete psychopath if I inherited RSF money. I would have at least been as bad but possibly worse. Striving made me a better person imo.
I've never met a nepo who became a super striver but I'm sure they're out there. I just haven't met one. Cool they're out there rowing the boat even though they didn't have to.

no problem with them at all. I probably grew up poorer than everyone else on XO. I am by no means rich but I have a decent amount to leave my kids. I plan on helping out with down payments, careers, and whatever else is needed.
I understand the hate, especially when the nepo is a dick, but I wouldnt want my kids looked upon negatively just because I helped them out.

Cr. Lots of 'I have 4 grandparents, 2 parents with ivy degrees' overrepresented in law and medicine and academia. Lots of multi generational lawmos.
The difference is these UMC families never quite crack UHNW. So every generation is doing 'well,' and maybe doing better now than ever before, but not enough to check out permanently in their 20s and jet set for the rest of their lives.
It takes one CSLG or one Mitch to breakout and earn BEAUCOUP dollars that will serve generations. Imagine if your great grandfather bought a football team. Now we're talking 4-5 gens that haven't worked a day in their lives. There's investing and then there's absolute nepotism. The difference is in the amount of support I guess.
James Dolan's dad bought him the Knicks. Not some Cravathmo passing down 3-5 million split among 5 kids or whatever.

Expectations are high for sincerely wealthy kids, especially if their parents were UMC strivers and not born into money. I can see why some of them burn out under the pressure and languish, as if success, given their advantages, were a binary 0/1 and they were supposed to outdo their dads. I have an immense amount of respect for anyone who can use their gifts well, though, whether that means building up their own dragon hoard from what they inherited, funding institutions and serving on boards well, art, etc.
On the other hand, the creation of culture traditionally largely rests with people who have the leisure to pursue something beyond survival or mundane caring for family. That makes seeing someone solely squandering it on personal pleasures sad, even if I'm sympathetic to wealthy kid burnouts.

To be clear, I have never faulted you for not having a TV show. Although, if you did, I assume, with great evidence, that it would suck. Also you could easily just make your own show by doing a travel vlog on Instagram, TikTok, and YT Shorts as millions of other people do, at low/no cost. And some of these people become extremely famous and successful on their own merits without some producer dropping money on the project.
Food for thought! Although it's a foregone conclusion that you wouldn't do that out of the potential to embarrass yourself and have to explain away another failure to your friends and family!
