1. He made the border a real border again.

In a matter of months, Trump reduced illegal border crossings to their lowest level in half a century. Catch-and-release is finished. The wall is going up and even being expanded, “Remain in Mexico” is back, and the Administration reduced releases into the country by an incredible 99.9 percent.

2. He reversed mass migration.

America recorded negative net migration in 2025 for the first time in at least half a century. So far, nearly 3 million illegal aliens have left the country, whether voluntarily or involuntarily: more than 675,000 forcibly deported and the rest “self-deported.”

Many of those self-deportations were facilitated by the President’s innovative program to offer plane tickets and cash bonuses for illegals to leave, not only incentivizing good behavior but significantly reducing the cost of deportations. Citizenship and the law actually mean something again.

3. He signed the Laken Riley Act — and required detention of criminal illegal aliens.

Named for an innocent girl murdered by an illegal alien, the Laken Riley Act requires federal authorities to detain illegals arrested for theft, burglary, shoplifting, assaulting police, or any crime causing death or serious injury. It also lets states sue officials who refuse to enforce it.

Laken Riley should still be alive. This law will prevent tragedies like hers.

4. History’s biggest drop in violent crime, and the lowest violent crime rate in 126 years.

According to FBI data, violent crime in America dropped an incredible 9.7 percent in 2025 — the largest one-year decline in history. Murder fell 18.1 percent, robbery fell 18.5 percent. And America’s violent crime rate is its lowest since 1900.

This is what happens when you put the National Guard on the streets in crime-ridden blue cities: fewer victims, safer streets, and better futures for America’s poorest.

5. He made the 2017 tax cuts permanent…and better.

The One Big Beautiful Bill locked in the largest tax cut in modern history, including the doubled standard deduction, the expanded Child Tax Credit, and 100 percent expensing for factories and equipment. It also delivered No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, an abolition of most taxes on Social Security benefits, and major relief for seniors.

Every Democrat voted no. With the 2017 act set to expire in December 2025, that would have resulted in the largest tax hike in American history.

6. He repealed 129 regulations for every new one.

In fiscal 2025, federal agencies finalized 646 deregulatory actions and just five regulatory actions: 129-to-1, and in nearly every case, the “one” was to repeal the others! OIRA says the savings exceeded those of Trump’s entire first term. That is more freedom, lower costs, and less bureaucratic sabotage.

Of these, the crown jewel was the repeal of Obama’s 2009 “Endangerment Finding”, the legal foundation for the Green New Scam’s vehicle mandates. EPA calls it the largest deregulatory action in American history and estimates that by itself, it will save Americans more than $1.3 trillion. Trump also killed the federal EV mandate, restored Americans’ freedom to buy the cars and trucks they actually want, and even eliminated the incentives behind the almost universally hated start-stop button.

7. He secured $18 trillion in announced investment commitments.

That’s nearly two-thirds the size of the entire American economy, building American factories, chip plants, data centers, energy projects, steel mills, shipyards, and supply chains employing American workers. Apple, Meta, NVIDIA, Micron, Hyundai, U.S. Steel, Ford, Taiwan Semiconductor, and many corporations and sovereign wealth funds are betting big on Trump’s America.

No President has ever done anything remotely like it. And it’s just getting started.

8. He made “reshoring” and “reindustrialization” real, not a slogan.

Ford is moving Lincoln production out of China. Toyota is shifting Tacoma production from Mexico to Texas. GM, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and others are expanding U.S. production. The capital equipment pouring into the country is the machinery that’s building the growing boom.

9. He replaced lopsided trade deals with balanced, reciprocal trade.

Trump used tariffs as leverage to reverse 80 years of lopsided trade deals that favored everyone but America, and to win new or improved agreements with trading partners accounting for more than half of global GDP. Those agreements open foreign markets, attack non-tariff barriers, defend strategic industries, and make it more profitable to build in America than to export American jobs.

10. He shifted global energy dominance from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of America.

Once the world’s largest energy importer — “exporting” $700 billion a year to our enemies — America now outproduces Saudi Arabia and Russia combined. The U.S. is also setting new records in oil, natural gas, and LNG exports, becoming the first country ever to export more than 100 million metric tons of LNG in a year.

Trump also opened land, accelerated permits, expanded pipelines and export terminals, and made American energy a tool for prosperity and peace.

11. After four decades of nuclear paralysis, Trump brought five new reactors online in a single year.

For more than 40 years, not one new privately developed non-light-water reactor reached criticality in America. Trump ordered at least three by July 4, 2026. DOE delivered four by the deadline, then a fifth just one month later.

Decades of zero. One Trump summer: five. That is a genuine nuclear renaissance.

Trump Made Elections Matter Again

12. He broke the Deep State’s power to defy the elected branches.

In Trump v. Slaughter, the Supreme Court ruled for the first time in 90 years that Article 2, Section 1 is still part of the Constitution: the President may fire subordinate officials in the executive branch, overturning the 1935 precedent that insulated “independent” agencies from voters’ control.

Ever wonder why elections often seem to change nothing? How about one President and 5,000 political appointees vs. 2.8 million unfireable, unaccountable bureaucrats? THAT is the “Deep State”.

Trump then made that victory real. For the first time in a century, all policy-making bureaucrats can now be fired for misconduct, incompetence, or defying lawful directives. The permanent bureaucracy no longer gets to veto the voters.

13. He ended nationwide injunction abuse.

In Trump v. CASA, the Supreme Court sharply limited nationwide injunctions. A single, local, district judge should not be able to block a national policy for everyone, everywhere; and yet that’s exactly what they’ve done, nonstop, ever since Trump (and only Trump) took office in 2017.

In restricting that unconstitutional power, the Court kneecapped the Black Robe Bureaucracy’s favorite tool of unlawful judicial supremacy.

14. He shut down USAID as a left-wing slush fund and shadow government.

USAID had become a taxpayer-funded machine for exporting abortion, gender ideology, censorship, and left-wing politics. It had a bigger budget than the CIA and the State Department combined, absolutely no accountability whatsoever, and a penchant for overthrowing governments.

Trump terminated it — completely — and moved real humanitarian aid under the State Department. Immediately, seven socialist Latin American governments lost re-election. Coincidence?

15. He shrank Federal employment to its lowest level in 60 years.

From a high under Biden, the federal workforce is now its smallest since 1966. Workforce reductions, agency closures, and spending cancellations mean fewer bureaucrats paid to resist the voters.

What’s more, when Biden left office, 94 percent of federal employees “worked” from home. The Trump administration cracked down: as Elon Musk put it, “you can work from the office or you can pretend to work somewhere else.”

16. He expelled DEI from the federal government.

Trump eliminated federal DEI offices and barred race- and sex-based preferences across the executive branch. Government hiring and contracting are returning to merit and equality under the law, ending the grotesque Democrat idea that “fighting discrimination” requires the federal government to discriminate.

He Defended Faith and Family

17. He delivered sweeping pro-life reform.

In his first term, Trump delivered the judges that overturned the abominable Roe v. Wade. Hardly anyone believed it could be done, or that Trump would do it. But he did, and a half-century nightmare finally ended.

Since returning to office, Trump has enforced the Hyde Amendment prohibiting the use of federal funds to pay for abortions, reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy prohibiting federal funding of foreign abortions, ended federal fetal-tissue research, strengthened conscience protections, protected Medicaid from funding large abortion providers, and pardoned 23 pro-life activists prosecuted by Biden’s weaponized Justice Department.

He’s also done everything within the Executive Branch’s power to defund Planned Parenthood. It would be nice if Congress did likewise.

No President has ever done more to protect life. No one.

18. He got men out of women’s sports, and restored biological reality to federal policy.

The United States government once again officially recognizes two sexes: male and female. Trump ended federal support for the chemical and surgical gender mutilation of children, stopped taxpayer funding of such irreversible abominations, and forced more than three dozen health systems to end or suspend their programs as well.

Trump also enforced Title IX as written: women and girls deserve their own teams, trophies, scholarships, and locker rooms. The NCAA and other athletic organizations changed their rules in response. After years of Democrats doing everything they could to destroy women’s sports and ruin girls’ lives, Trump’s administration protects women and girls again.

19. He enacted America’s first nationwide school-choice program — and launched Trump Accounts.

As part of the President’s One Big Beautiful Bill, Trump enacted America’s first-ever nationwide school choice program. The new Education Freedom Tax Credit helps fund scholarships for tuition, books, and other educational costs.

That’s on top of the new Trump Accounts, which give every child a tax-advantaged stake in America’s future, including a $1,000 federal seed for eligible newborns. Parents gain power. Bureaucracies lose it. And children learn first-hand about free markets and future orientation.

20. He targeted anti-Christian bias and discrimination.

Trump created the White House Faith Office, Religious Liberty Commission, and Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias. He restored conscience protections and made clear that Christians do not surrender their First Amendment rights merely by entering public life.

He Restored Peace Through Strength and Put America First

21. He forced NATO to stop freeloading and increase defense spending by 250 percent.

For decades, wealthy European governments underfunded their militaries, effectively sending America the bill and using American taxpayers to subsidize their bloated welfare states. Trump forced NATO to replace its old two-percent-of-GDP spending target with an enormous five percent by 2035.

Allied spending is rising, American defense orders are soaring, and Europe is becoming a partner instead of a dependent.

22. He drove China out of the Caribbean.

China spent years building strategic beachheads at both ends of the Panama Canal, in Cuba, and in Maduro’s Venezuela. Trump forced Panama out of Belt and Road, expanded American security access around the Canal, and captured Maduro, who now sits in a New York jail cell awaiting trial.

Beijing’s planned encirclement of the United States collapsed. The Monroe Doctrine is back. Call it the Donroe Doctrine.

23. He brokered eight peace deals in just eight months.

In eight months, Trump brokered peace in eight conflicts spanning four continents, including wars that had gone on for as much as 40 years. It’s a record unmatched by any other President.

24. He launched and funded Golden Dome, the first-ever true missile defense for the U.S. population.

Ronald Reagan dreamed of making nuclear missiles obsolete through his Strategic Defense Initiative. Today, Trump is actually building it: a layered homeland shield with space-based sensors and interceptors, conventional defenses, and new technologies including microwave systems to destroy drone swarms and directed-energy weapons (yes, lasers) that can replace an $11 million missile with $2 of electricity.

Congress has funded the initial $25 billion, with far more on the way once it passes the NDAA this fall. Better a shield than a sword.

25. He restored the warrior ethos — and reversed the recruiting crisis.

After years of missed targets under Biden, every active military component met or exceeded its 2025 recruiting goal. Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth refocused the newly renamed Department of War on actually winning wars, while pouring resources into shipbuilding, munitions, drones, missile defense, and America’s atrophied industrial base.

MY company just told me no to celebrating Pride.

We are a kinda small firm in the big scheme of things. But we are DIVERSE and minority owned. We speak 28 languages. I’m a minority one of few being a white person on the firm calls. I think I married an incel

When we met I was an escort and he was a client. We fell in love pretty quickly and pretty hard and have been together 14 years. He has made some unsettling comments about women over the years and a lot of it seems rooted in misogyny. He talks down against women who are accomplished and successful. He thinks women should be agreeable. He thinks there’s no such thing as inequality in the workplace, and the world is built for women. He has very strict rules for how women should behave. I think the women in his family reinforce that because they are all like that. I grew up kind of wild with a lot of women and we are the opposite. I think that’s what attracted him to me but it seems like he tries to change me.

He says he’s traditional but also wants to go 50/50 on everything. If we go to a coffee shop or for a slice of pizza, he won’t even pay for my order. It’s not even about him paying for me, it’s just embarrassing and makes it awkward to pay separately. I would rather we take turns paying. I’m pregnant and I recently asked him what he’s going to do when the baby gets here? Are we still going to pay for ourselves and who pays for the baby? How is that going to work?? And just this week he started paying for my coffees.

He teases me a lot. When I told him it hurts my feelings he said he’s negging me so I’ll stay with him. I told him it just makes me feel insecure and want to run into the arms of another man for comfort. I don’t understand why a guy would intentionally want their partner to have low self esteem. My parents were in town this week and I took them to dinner. It was raining when we finished so my dad went out to get the car, and while my mom and I were standing by the door waiting, she told me completely casually, in the tone you'd use to mention a coupon, that she has an account at a credit union in Dayton that my dad has never known about and she's been putting money into it since 1991.

That's thirty-five years. She started it the year my brother was born because my dad had a stretch where he was laid off and got what she called unpredictable about money, and then things got better and she just never closed it, she kept going. She's never taken anything out of it. She wouldn't tell me how much is in there, she just said "enough."

And then she said, "You have one, don't you." Not really as a question. And I said yes, because I do. I've had one for three years and my husband doesn't know about it.

I have never told anybody that. Not my sister, not my best friend, nobody. My mother figured it out standing next to a hostess stand in about four seconds.

Then my dad pulled up and she picked up her purse and said "don't tell your father" in the exact same voice she uses for don't forget the leftovers, and we got in the car and she asked me about my cousin's new baby the whole way back to their hotel.

I want to be clear that I don't think my marriage is in trouble, because I know exactly how this reads. He's a good husband and it isn't about him. I watched my mom be completely financially dependent on someone for forty years and somewhere around 24 I decided I was never going to be in a position where I couldn't walk out of a room, and that's all it's ever been.

But I've been sitting here since we got back thinking about the fact that she was doing the same thing my entire childhood and I never knew, and that she just assumed I was doing it too, and that she was right.

Context recap for those who haven't red my previous post: I’m currently packing up and moving out of the house my ex and I bought together, which he kept after our divorce, but where I’ve continued to live (on my own) for two years under the terms of the agreement we reached during the separation. I’m estranged from my toxic family, partly due to the drama he caused, and I’m finally moving in with my new partner.

So, my ex-husband and I are wrapping up the final logistics of me moving out. Everything was going smoothly until he texted me with a classic lead-in: "Hey, sorry to ask, I've been thinking about this for a while... feel free to say no, but do you remember that copy of The Lord of the Rings your parents gave us? Would you mind if I kept it as a sweet little memory of us?"

First of all, my parents didn't "give us" anything. That book belonged to my late grandfather who, as he knows very well, was basically the only family member I truly felt connected to. Since I no longer speak to my parents, that book is the only physical piece of my grandfather’s legacy I managed to keep.

Second of all, this isn't just "a copy of The Lord of the Rings." This is a vintage, numbered, limited edition (1.000 copies) release, printed on India paper, complete with a certificate of authenticity. It’s worth well over a thousand euros. He knows this, becasue we’ve literally discussed its financial value in the past, and (shocker) he’s currently broke.

If he wanted a sentimental keepsake from our marriage, there are a dozen random paperback books scattered around the house that he actually read during our trips or that were presents we gave each other on special occasions. I would have handed any of them over in a heartbeat. But no, he specifically asked for the rare, priceless, sentimental heirloom from my dead grandfather. I’d like to say I’m lost for words, but in fact I have plenty, and they’re all insults.

Naturally, I said no: my grandfather's book is coming with me to my new life, where it belongs. And, of course, he replied in a very smooth-talking way that I was doing the right thing (of course I was) and that, in fact, he was even grateful to me just for considering it (and it was very hard for me not to reply, "And I thank you for having the nerve to try and ask me that; thank you for making it easier for me every single day over the last two years to realise that life is so much better without you").

EDIT: since many of you seem to be rightfully concerned, I was already home with the book when I got the message and I'm not moving from here today. Tomorrow the book will be brought to a safe place. I had met this guy on hinge and we casually dated for a a month before he asked me to be his girlfriend, I thought he was so sweet, he was introducing me to all his friends, I met his brothers, we did Christmas, new years, Valentine's together!

He was kind of just a rambling potato for the first 2 hours cuz they just gave him a dose of painkillers before discharging him. And he couldn’t physically move cuz it hurt, so he just sat on the sofa completely still. So we had a nice long conversation.

I could immediately tell he wasn’t normal cuz he was so much more uncensored and just said whatever he wanted to. It was such a turn on. He kept doing this really silly thing, where he would go “I’m gonna say something unhinged,” then I would wait and expect something truly unhinged, but he’d say the sweetest shit and looked so shy saying it😭. My personal favourites were him saying that he smells my conditioner sometimes when he’s stressed out cuz it reminds him of me, and that he gets goosebumps when I touch him cuz his “body can’t handle” me. He also says he gets turned on everytime I wear a sports bra😩, which is interesting considering I go on a run almost daily… That has to be the most romantic set if things I’ve ever heard him say, and its such a pity he said it while basically high on painkillers 😭.

We talked a bunch more and then the topic went to relationships, then marriage and family. And then he said something that made me tear up so bad. He asked if I ever wanted kids, and I said yea. Then I asked him back, and he said he wants kids only if I’m okay with it. Then I asked him why. And he proceeded to express his incredibly deep fear and hatred of nausea and vomitting, and said that he’d be really anxious seeing me like that for months. And that resonated with me in 2 ways. Cuz firstly, I just spent less than a week taking care of him being all nauseous and vomitting really badly, and yea, it was incredibly scary and sad, and it’s so comforting that he also recognises that. And secondly, it just made me feel so blessed, because he’s so considerate and cute😩.

Btw I am drunk for the first time in awhile. Reason being, I got selected for my internship! Unfortunately I’m celebrating alone because he can’t have alcohol with painkillers. Also he got the internship too and I’ll tell him in the morning. Good night friends❤️

I’m glad it’s only been about a month. When we first started dating he told me his parents died in an accident at 10. My heart went out to him! I was so gentle.

He was a gentleman. He paid for everything. Planned dates. Asked questions. Paid attention, remembered details about me, waited on physical intimacy.

When I looked up his company I saw his name. A few days later I asked to add him on social media and he gave me a different name. I was like hmm. After a bit I asked if he ever used a different last name. He said: “No. Why?”

Then he told me the story of why he changed his name (he didn’t, I looked) and sitting on my couch recounted these horrific things that happened to him … cried. Let me hold him. The whole time he’s talking his heart beat never changed. No pounding or racing.

I dug. I dug with the legal name. He lied about his age. He lied about his name. I found the charges, he’s currently on probation, I found the real age. I looked for obituaries. My stomach knew. I found his grandmother’s obituary.

And I found his mom’s Facebook profile. She’s very much alive, posted a photo a few years ago with “my children” and he’s in the middle. I wanted to vomit. I blocked him immediately.

Everything this man told me was a lie. And he was dangerously good at it.

I posted in the group and in the last two hours dozens of girls have come forward with their stories - him lying about his age to girls while he was 32 and they were 14.

Mall Chinese food AKA my comfort food

For context, I have always been a regular cycle girlie, and I’ve had a copper IUD or a Paragard for about 2 years. For days and days I’d been experiencing nausea and I’d never experienced that before so I’d bring it up to my mom, as well as the fact that I was two weeks late on my period. She right away told me that she thought I was pregnant. Me saying “no way”… just to get a test with a boyfriend (?) and finding out that in fact I am. It’s his baby.

Him and I had been on and off for years mainly due to me because I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out from us going to two colleges far away from each other. Now, we are really close but again, we only see each other during the summer (so it’s the only time I’m sexually active) and during the school year we keep up with each other. He was so incredibly supportive and kept telling me that on the bright side it meant that I’m very fertile from the fact that I got pregnant even after a 99% chance that I wouldn’t from the IUD. 😭 He told me whatever I choose that he’ll support, but from the get-go I told him that I didn’t think keeping it would be the best option for us.

We are both in college, I still have many years of schooling left. I’m not ready to be a mother. The next day I called all of the places I could find that offered abortion care, and I ended up landing on just having the medication abortion pills delivered sometime next week. (In 2-5 business days), yet I leave in 10 days from now. I also went to the ER and got an ultrasound and my IUD taken out, just to make sure it wasn’t ectopic as well. This has just all been crazy to me as only 48 hours ago I had no idea that this could have been a possibility. Now I am looking into maybe having to go a little late to college, depending on when the pills get here and how long it’ll take to recover. I tried to find a surgical procedure but the earliest was in 2 weeks unfortunately.

I am grateful for the love and support that I have from both my mom and my boyfriend. He was the one that took me to the ER and paid for whatever I needed but most importantly provided the emotional support that I needed. But this has been the craziest experience. Even crazier to know that the worst part isn’t even over yet 😭 But we’ll make it through. :,)

We were supposed to be in Greece for another 4 days.

Last night my fiancé got way too drunk at the hotel bar and started talking to this older married couple next to us. Somehow marriage came up and he told them he was “mostly getting married because it feels like the next thing you're supposed to do.”

I thought he was joking until the wife looked at me and went completely silent.

We got back to the room and I asked him what the hell that meant. He basically unloaded everything. He misses being single, thinks we got engaged too fast, apparently feels like I pressured him even though HE proposed, and then finished it off by telling me I was ruining the vacation by making it into a big deal.

He fell asleep 20 minutes later.

I did not lol.

Packed my suitcase, moved my flight to this morning and used some of the money I’d been saving for wedding stuff to put myself in first class. He woke up when I was already at the airport and has called me 17 times.

The ring is currently in my purse because I haven't decided what to do with it yet.

I am happily married. And yet, why do I still feel that grief, pang of sadness and then anger when I found out about that news? Wait— I know why. It’s because 3 years ago we broke up and one main factor (we’ve got a few other issues) was that he was adamant about not getting married. He told me he doesn’t believe in marriages. Was I betrayed?

I am married to the love of my life now. He treats me exactly how I want to be treated. But I don’t think I’ll ever get over that breakup. We were together for about 3 years. He truly was a piece of shit, calculative and cunning. And I’m pretty sure he was already messing with her nearing the end of our relationship (we were long distance for those last couple months). Am I evil for wishing harm and unhappiness towards my ex? Am I wrong to feel this way even when I got my happy ending?

I've been polyamorous since like 2018. Every relationship I was in was open/poly and sometimes we even dated the same partner. But after almost a decade of doing that, I think I'm ready for something different.

I am not a jealous person romantically at all and am happy when my partner is happy with other people... And the idea of being able to love more than one person simultaneously is appealing on its face, for sure. But what nobody tells you about polyamory is that it's a lot of work. So, so much work. There's so much communicating with multiple people which, in my experience, amounts to little more than interpersonal politics & all these undercurrents and social dynamics of things that are both said explicitly & left unsaid. It's really complicated and I'm just really over that aspect of it.

I'm also over all the heartbreak. Me, you, and this other person are a triad. Oh, you broke up with that person? Well I'm breaking up with you too & taking my extended polycule of 9 partners with me--so now there are social consequences for breaking up with them. My experience with polyamory has been modest joy chased with intense heartbreak over and over and over again and I hate that sm.

Another thing I hate is having to compete for affections. Somebody has a "primary partner" or even a spouse that they live with and they decide to start dating you... What that really means is that you're an afterthought to them. Kind of a glorified side piece is what it feels like honestly.

Plus, I was 29 when I became polyamorous and I'm almost 38 now. Close to 40. That lifestyle of sex, drugs, and rock n roll... I don't really want it anymore. I kind of want to settle down honestly. I want to be dedicated to one person and just be so romantic with them. And I don't want to be subtly penalized for breaking up with somebody if I can help it. But most of all I just want to be somebody's priority for once. I don't want to be in the back of somebody's Rolodex anymore. I want to be the first person somebody calls when they need somebody. I want to celebrate birthdays and life milestones with somebody. I would really love to be married again, too. Is that too much to ask for at this point in my life? Or should I just accept that I'm getting older and I should take what I can get rather than being picky?

The transition to monogamy is going to be interesting bc I am trans and in my communities, polyamory is the rule and not the exception. And I don't want to debase myself with the apps that are designed to prey on my loneliness and extract exorbitant sums of money from me to be more visible. Maybe taking some time for myself will be good for me.

Anyone else made this transition?

Title pretty much sums it up. Was living in DC and lost my job. Got into a masters in Austria, have been here about a yr now. Have slowly picked up German (b1) made community, and settled in.

I've been anxious this whole time about finding part time work, and it has proven super difficult. Now down to just a few months of funds and the thought of having to head back to the US sucks. But I think the job market there may be in better shape than Vienna's 10% unemployment :/

Then after we got there I found out her ex was staying at the house too. Apparently he's still really close with the family and nobody thought that was worth mentioning to me beforehand lol.

I tried not to make it weird but the whole vibe was awful. Her mum kept bringing up stories about when they were together, and my girlfriend and her ex would talk to each other here and there throughout the night. Nothing constant, but enough that I was definitely noticing it. Then at one point the two of them disappeared outside together for like 20 or 30 mins.

I asked her what was going on when she came back and she immediately got defensive. Said I was embarrassing her in front of her family and acting insecure. It turned into a pretty nasty argument and she told me if I was gonna be around in a bad mood and ruin it for everyone then I should just go.

So I did. Grabbed my stuff, left the house and got myself a hotel room.

She's been calling and texting me nonstop since I left but I haven't returned any of her calls or texts. I really don't even know what I would say right now.

So now I'm sitting alone with a dry burger, cold fries and some dry tasteless wings wondering how I became the problem here. Thinking about just hitting the road early tomorrow without telling anyone and letting her figure out how she's getting home

I wish I’d never married my husband. We were fundamentally incompatible and we ruined each other’s lives. The resentment on both sides is palpable.

He was pretty sure he wanted kids, I was pretty sure I didn’t. We knew this when we got married and agreed that we would both stay open minded.

After we got married, it was pretty clear that I was the one who was going to have to change my mind. He let me quit my job and paid for me to travel for two years so that I would feel like I’d done everything I wanted before settling down. I could barely enjoy myself because I felt like I was waiting to die.

I caved during COVID. If I had to have a child, it would be better to do it when we were both home. I got pregnant the first month trying and knew immediately that I had made a horrible mistake. Halfway through the pregnancy, the fetus was diagnosed with fatal abnormalities and I was able to terminate. It’s the single best thing to have ever happened to me, but it didn’t come without consequences. My body is destroyed and I had two mental breakdowns complete with psych hospital visits. 5 years out I’m still a shell of who I was before.

After the termination he pushed me to try again. It got really dark, to the point that he was taking me to an IVF clinic and telling the doctors everything was fine while I had massive panic attacks in the office. It took a year and a half to come out of my stupor enough to tell him I didn’t want to try anymore. I offered him a divorce multiple times so he could pursue parenthood, but he always said that was ridiculous. Fast forward and now he’s 41. It recently struck him that he’s really never going to have kids and he’s consumed with regret and resentment.

I love him so much that I wish I’d never met him. I wish he lived the life he truly wanted. I wish I’d never gotten pregnant and ruined my physical and mental health. Together 16 years, married, two young kids. Late 30s. No prior issues like this, or none I saw. A few weeks ago my wife asked about opening the marriage. Later it came out she has a specific guy in mind. She says she's "just interested," nothing has happened. She told me herself, which I'm trying to give her credit for. I told her clearly, multiple times, that I don't want an open relationship. She keeps making the case that "one guy wouldn't change anything." When I told her I love her and don't want her sleeping with someone else, she said I was being overwhelming. She also said she can't imagine living the next decades like this, which stung, because from where I sit we're healthy, financially fine, and have a good life. I'll be honest about my side. My first reaction was to beg. I apologized a lot, for things I'm not sure I did. I realized I was turning into a doormat out of fear of being alone, and I've stopped. I told her once where I stand and that I won't keep defending it. I'm sleeping in the kids' room for now because lying next to her like nothing is happening was too much. I have individual therapy Wednesday and couples therapy Thursday. I want to save this marriage. I want a partner in good and bad. But right now I don't trust her, and I don't know how I'd ever feel safe again. What I'd like feedback on: Has anyone been on either side of this and come back from it? What actually changed? How do I tell the difference between her wanting me and her staying for the kids or convenience? Is it reasonable to expect an apology for what she asked, or am I being rigid? If she keeps pushing after Thursday, is a temporary separation the right next step, or does that just accelerate the end? I'm not looking for "leave her" or "just let her do it." I want to hear from people who've actually lived through this.
