They're 18-24 and glued to their phones all day. They have never known a world that wasn't "online" and don't read books, ever. Several of them have never purchased a newspaper, and didn't understand when I tried to explain what analog television was. They've never seen a cassette tape. They have no memory of Bush and were very young during Obama's first term. Several are "bi" and have weird ideas about gender.

I am Old.

Three of my clerks are "bi."

I have no issue with this.

I am a gay man and I have lived through things these children cannot fathom.

I marched in my first Pride parade when it was still dangerous. They wear pronoun pins they ordered from Amazon and think they invented something, LJL.

One of them told me I have "boomer energy." Yet I was born in well after that "generation."

I said nothing. I went to the break room and stared at my latest notes on the refrigerator and drank a coffee.

BTW, Tabitha has added "generational sensitivity" to the next team meeting agenda. She spelled "sensitivity" correctly, which I found suspicious.

I am Old. This is fine.™
