Even someplace like Svalbard or other even more isolated island like Ellesmere has contact with the outside world with some regularity. And in those places you have polar bears and a non-negligible chance of dying from exposure, or just getting sick and not being able to get treatment.
I would go with somewhere in western Montana. Mountains make it easier to hide/defend and there is not much there that is deadly (maybe a bear of two) and you are still close enough to civilization when you need it. |
