the game/storyline itself was kind of a disappointment, but the actual rendering of the geography still looks good, like how the hills above the city transition into semi-arid chaparral and then into desert, or how the vineyard area transitions into the northern california-style wooded hills and so on.
apparently there are GTA online mods where the whole map just becomes a racing sim, which makes sense given the complex road system (topography and directionality).
