Special counsel is investigating Trump for possible obstruction of justice, officials say
The special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election is interviewing senior intelligence officials as part of a widening probe that now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice, officials said.
The move by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.
Trump had received private assurances from then-FBI Director James B. Comey starting in January that he was not personally under investigation. Officials say that changed shortly after Comey’s firing.
Five people briefed on the interview requests, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said that Daniel Coats, the current director of national intelligence, Mike Rogers, head of the National Security Agency, and Rogers’s recently departed deputy, Richard Ledgett, agreed to be interviewed by Mueller’s investigators as early as this week. The investigation has been cloaked in secrecy, and it is unclear how many others have been questioned by the FBI.
The NSA said in a statement that it will “fully cooperate with the special counsel” and declined to comment further. The office of the director of national intelligence and Ledgett declined to comment.
The White House now refers all questions about the Russia investigation to Trump’s personal attorney, Marc Kasowitz.

"briefed on the interview requests" would suggest that the requests identified the reason for the interview as being, at least in part, connected to an OOJ charge.

Well, duh. How is this news? Comey tells his good buddy, Bob, "Bob, I don't like Trump. And I believe he was trying to get me to drop the investigation into Flynn. Will you get him for obstruction of justice for me?"
Bob says, "Sure thing, Jim."

I'd say that, after 4 months, having someone articulate some actual improper action is not too much to ask.
For instance - when Bill Clinton got into trouble, he did so because he lied under oath. He did so on camera, everyone saw. We knew what he did, and could argue over what it meant.
Today, we know neither what Trump did nor whether it is a crime, etc.
Listen lib, if Trump did something terrible to win the election, I'll be as pissed about it as anyone else. However, today, it just looks like a bunch of disingenuous bullshit coming from politicians and certain media outlets who are not accepting the results of the election.

Ugh, libs, how long are you going to be obsessing over this. Every fucking day, it's something about Trump and Russia.
There has been no new information for months on this issue. Nothing. Just speculation and newspapers running opinion pieces as news stories, or some sort of innuendo. You'd think that you guys would have wised up about the danger of group think after the Comey testimony.

I believe the language the Wapo used was:
Per an ANONYMOUS SOURCE, Muellers meetings with Intel committees SUGGEST he is CONSIDERING investigation of obstruction of justice

all that says is that Trump's lawyer merely confirmed that there was an insider who leaked that "Mueller's meetings with Intel committees SUGGEST he is CONSIDERING investigation of obstruction of justice"
sorry about your tp reading comprehension

the IC knew very early that there was no collusion. hence Mueller's true function was to smother the story that DOJ and IC were undermining Trump, and it's clear from what Weissman and others said that the Mueller Team was praying they could prompt Trump to do something that they could use to charge obstruction.
recall that the Report concluded that there was no collusion and that it left open the obstruction issue (because there was nothing they could cite for that) but by leaving it open the law provided that Bill Barr could decide the issue, which he did.
right before the Report came out, Neal Katyal published an op-ed about what could be done to get Trump after the Report was released. Katyal obviously knew what the Report would conclude and his views were the consensus lib view about how to keep after Trump despite the unfortunate fact that all the accusations against him were false.
