They had a QB not on a long term deal, but he was ballin and they were in play for the #1 seed, so they traded 2 1sts for a top 3 CB to fix their weakest unit. Going in bigly right now.

QB out for the year and possibly will miss the start of next season. They have no clue to sign him long term, franchise him, or what. They don't have any 1st rounders soon in order to improve the team until Jones is back fully healthy and they dont have the draft capital to find a new QB.

lol. Best case, in 2 years Jones is back and they haven't had any 1sts during those years and any good players they have will becoming free agents or about to be.

Good job short thinking woman!

dj isn't going to play next year at all. i don't see the colts even signing him to any sort of contract just to wait to see what condition he comes back in. they'll probably give ar one last shot to come in and do it during his final contract year.

the two 1sts wasn't crazy for a top end cb, and they weren't going to get a t5 pick anyway, so it's not like they'd be able to take another shot at drafting a franchise qb

coach 1000% needs to be fired, lol @ passing on 3rd n 1 w/ a running QB, and 2x lol @ running out of the shotgun on 4th and 1 when everyone knows you're going to hand off the ball.

you can sometimes find ur QB in the 1st outside of the top 5.

trading 2 1sts for a CB when you dont have a QB yet for next year, tsk tsk

at the time of the trade, they had, statistically, one of the best qb's in the league + a shot at the #1 seed in the afc

and they did not have him under contact next year. that is a huge part of this. By trading away their 2 1sts, they basically gave up any leverage on Jones and said "we are 100% rising with Jones for the next few years" and now he might not play for the next 2.

his contract value was already well known based on recent signings, and if he hadn't agree'd they'd just franchise him. the afc was wide open and the colts were in the top spot at the time; the only debatable thing about the deal was going for a top cb vs a de, but i think she did that because ballard had already sunk so much draft capital into the de position she was hoping they'd start to turn pressures into sacks if coverage could hold for 1 more sec.

you cant build an offense for a normal QB and AR. you gotta be like the ravens and really focus on a specific offense system if you are trying to build around an unique QB

shitty monday morning quarterbacking analysis. the owner has been 180 and certainly a more grounded and involved presence than her father, you just wanted to stunt your misogyny.

their obvious cr move is to get a guy like daniel jones or sam darnold as a free agent. not sure who's available.

Its just so much more clear that fuck up now.

like 25 teams would've given jones franchise qb money until yesterday. it was a freak injury and it's a good thing they didn't have him signed to a long-term deal, now they'll get a yuge discount on him this summer.

2. indy franchises him for a season he will partially miss and not be ready for either way

there are no other better options, they will match whatever he gets anywhere else. the point is it will be at a huge discount to his value before yesterday

in the meantime they will sign a guy like mac jones or flacco or whoever to them through this.

also don't forget that achilles heal quicker these days, he has a real shot to play next year

What's the argument here? That Indy messed up by not signing its qb to a long-term deal because that qb got injured and now can't play again this season and might never be the same again, which doesn't cost the team anything beyond losing said qb this year, unlike if they had signed him long term, in which case they'd be on the hook for a lot more money for a now-injured qb?
