I play melodic bass. I mostly play slow melodious lines. I'm looking at a Vintera or a Player series P bass, or one of the older American made ones from the 90s. I don't have a Stingray picked out but they're a lot of money.

I’d say go with a p bass. Have you considered the American performer model with the J pickup and j style neck profile? It’s one of my fav basses I’ve ever played.

I don't want a PJ bass. As a long time J bass player I want to get away from that experience and go in a different direction. I want to try it tho original way.

Yeah. There’s something to be said about the simplicity of a passive p bass with a chunky neck to keep you focused on the groove without playing too many notes and noodling.

I'm leaning heavily towards P bass now not thinking Stingray so much. Trying to decide what to do. I kinda want to build one from parts because I really enjoy that. I want a nitro finish but if you get a body on Warmoth they won't do the nitro for you. You have to get one that's got primer and then you have to DIY. Apparently it's really easy to fuck up and takes weeks of sanding. Probably too lazy. But I do love a partscaster.
