Is the Vanguard REIT ETF (VNQ) a good, safe inflation hedge?

I have it in my IRA. It’s dividends are ordinary income for tax so be aware of that. It’s a good part of a diversified portfolio, but you are thinking too narrowly if you are looking at it as an inflation hedge. Tons of risk re corporate real estate.
But it’s a cheap good product (like most vanguard etfs)
