But have to admit once you've done it, every other place is a variant of the same theme. And the destination is usually filled with trash everywhere, the food is mediocre, there's no diet coke, only regular coke, the backpacker "resort" managers are always weirdos, and there's always the drugged out white trash Aussie horde anywhere you went.
Do remember island hopping in Indonesia and we went from the main Muslim island, which was littered with insane amount of trash everywhere despite beautiful beaches and all the scenic green hills you'd want, to a Christian island, which was spotlessly neat and tidy. Coincidence? I don't know. Did have some great snorkeling and amazing enormous clams that snapped shut when you floated over it.
Wonder what it's like today. It's been close to 20 years since I hit the Banana Pancake trail. Can't fathom tolerating the discomfort these days. |

"american interests" is a global strategy that is laid out for decades, and constantly tweaked as things happen as they inevitably do. this is not day-to-day governance but interests that keep america where it is, a superpower, for the next century. xi is doing the same thing for china.
