Getting old ain't for pussies. First MRI didn't show much but a year later it's a lot worse. Good times...the new damage is permanent btw. My wife is pretty secretive but 15 year old daughter keyed in right away based on YouTube searches.

Key indicators: Seattle has 7x's the global average. Not everyone that gets mono gets Ms but 100% of people with Ms had momo, my wife included.

It's autoimmune and studies show a direct link to vitamin d deficiency. For the momo part, the immune system figures out how to kill off the disease but apparently it has very similar markers with brain and nerve tissue. Later in life, these patients have their immune system cross blood/brain and when it gets in it thinks the nerve tissue is mono and starts using inflammation to kill it off. Once the immune system kills off a nerve pathway, it's gone forever. Eventually you're crippled and basically die.

I'm sure I butchered that but that's the gist. It's more likely if kids were vitamin d deficient leading into adolescences.

They do a good job of pausing the loss of function. Basically hold the nerve damage as long as possible through immune suppression.

I have a relative with it. The drugs are unfortunately dogshit and there are significant side effects. People use them for a time and then go off and then back on. But they keep you from being totally paralyzed. The good news is that there are some new drugs on the horizon.

i'm sorry to hear that, man. my wife has rheumatoid arthritis (which she thinks she probably got from getting vaxed, or "long covid"). luckily she got on meds that seem to be working and have stopped the disease but she's a little stiff sometimes, and both of her middle fingers have a weird crick in them because she was bad about getting to the doctor and getting on meds.

All of the DMT routes sound terrible. Her MRI almost 2 years ago did not show lesions so I thought we were good, but she kept getting worse and we've ruled out any mimics. It started a few years ago with numb and tingling toes. Now it's moved up her legs. She has some vision problems and dizziness. She's miserable and it's hard to watch. Honestly the first thing I noticed was her going into turbo bitch-mode at random things. In any event, I know this is a time sensitive issue.

--- modern medicine is deathly pathetic in how it's administered. The bounce between specialists and the intervals to pass the next 'test' before another pointless referral is maddening. The specialists are generally good at what they do but their work is so inefficiently directed ---

I dose the shit out of the entire family with a d/k combo. Especially if you live in the pnw, keep kids on high d dosage and somehow don't let them get mono.

Did your wife have brain Mr lumbar puncture? Ms is a diagnosis that has very high certainty, yes or no, when new onset.

No, just MRI w/contrast. That was a year ago. It came back without signs. Her symptoms have only progressed and we've ruled out everything.

Yeah it mostly sucks or is boring then we die and it's usually a terrible experience for all involved.

She is scared as fuck. She apologizes to me all the time which makes me sad. She said if I want to leave id better do it before the diagnosis. That makes me sad. I don't want her to feel like that. But shit is not fun. The muscle spasms are partially hard to watch. Somehow I'll have to break this to our kids. They know something is up.

I got good suggestions here and I haven't told anybody irl so it's good to come here and share anonymously.

We got the last brain MRI and no sign of MS. There was a small spot but inconclusive. Good news but Dr said that 'only' rules out 90% of instances. He thinks whatever is going on is spinal. Thoracic MRI is in 2 weeks. It's great ruling out diseases and Dr is happy but it doesn't do Jack shit for my wife who is miserable 23/7.

I haven't really discussed this with Dr but she says one line of her nerves makes her vaginal area constantly aroused. Lol fuck me.

I would take fake ass cancer over this. It's kind of weird but my wife looks the same. She's skinnier but that doesn't invoke sympathy, if anything, other women, even her friends, are mean. So she doesn't say anything.
