If Dyson’s advanced technological work that lead to Skylab was created only because they found the remains of the first terminator’s arm in the car crusher how the FUCK did Dyson ever come up with the technology in the first place if it could have only been created by future events that had yet to happen? SOMETHING DOESN’T ADD UP.

One of the characters says that but that doesn't make it true. How the fuck would he know anyway? Dyson is obviously a smart dude. Maybe seeing the arm accelerated the original timeline if anything.

cr. it's basically a redditard 105 IQ tell at this point to proudly announce a "plot hole" along these lines.

do you know what a plot hole is?

and I don't mean the reddit definition like "Plot hole in Back to the Future! How come Marty's parents didn't recognize him later in life? Plot hole!"

whoa, whoa, let me stop you right there!

1) literally *NOBODY* cares about your esoteric definition of 'plot hole'. nobody. everyone understands the conversational use of 'plot hole' in OP. was this seriously your intention in bumping this shitty, pointless subthread? to wax autistic on the film theory definition of 'plot hole'?

2) he said it was not a paradox either, which it is.

a more precise answer is: if this timeline/universe is the only one AND Sarah and The Terminator were successful in changing the future, then T2 or BTTF do not make sense. because of the causation paradox you refer to. it would mean the terminator tech just shows up even though in no future are there terminators (which perhaps is possible, however strange).

but if there are multiples extant timelines and time travel involves traveling between them, then you can both change the present and future, yet be from the same past.

moreover, you have to account for the clear choice by James Cameron that they didn't actually change the future. hence the black open road at the end (as opposed to the more triumphant deleting scene ending which shows an old Sarah Connor). Although I believe I heard Cameron say he believed they did and the future was won (he later must have changed his mind).

Dyson was probably working on diversity initiatives at some place like Supermicro, heard from his dad that the family junkyard found a terminator arm and microchip, and then went back to Supermicro saying that we should pivot the business in this way, and was able to hire an all star team that then developed the advanced tech which he got credit for. Happens a lot at tech companies.
