Date: March 30th, 2026 3:24 PM Author: Razzle-dazzle slap-happy brethren windowlicker i think 3PT distance matters quite a lot. also shot type matters a lot. when karaban got the ball he was moving toward the uconn basket and had to suddenly stop when boozer jumped in front of him. while he could have shot, his shot would have been difficult because he had to steady himself from stopping his momentum and make sure he shot over the athletic boozer. karaban wisely stopped and found mullins for an unguarded catch and shoot.
in terms of mullins positioning, i don't think he was thinking too much about positioning himself for a shot. he's a freshman and passed to a senior karaban who he probably expected to take the shot. mullins kind of lucked out that the duke defenders overran him, left him so open, and didn't even jump to challenge him |

He was 0-4 that day from 3PT and he said he looked up, saw 4 seconds on the clock and passed it "to someone who made shots," and was a little surprised when Caraban passed it right back to him. At that point he had to heave it up, but watch it again, Evans is crouching down in front of the 3PT line essentially daring Mullins to take it from 35ft. Careful what you ask for I guess.
