Also, the use of titanium has nothing to do with strength - SS and ti are similarly strong, durable metals - and everything to do with marketing. Titanium is seen as unobtanium. It's rare and exotic compared to stainless steel, but it's no stronger or more durable. To the extent that the material properties of titanium factored into the decisionmaking process at all, the advantage is one of weight.
It looks like Apple has been using the same "Ceramic Shield" glass since the iPhone 12, and its strong AF. Those screens survived a shitload of drops. And the results of that single test were pretty impressive since both screens survived an edge drop from 6' in the air. |
