Personally, I'd upgrade 14-D & omit the 3-legger.
Ever consider older, shorter sets like V-nickels or either 3-cent series? |

But there are other overdates & DDs that aren't included in Danscos in general. Only ones that are popular (or were decades ago) are ever included.
If it weren't for Dansco & the Redbook, the 1955 DDO cent would sell for 10% of what it does now. Actually, anything added to the Redbook can expect a huge price bump...
This kind of stuff is one of the reasons I moved away from US coins. |

I know that if you leave a cent coin in vinegar for too long it takes on the look of red clay. Kind of a good look, but some don't like it. Vinegar and baking soda can really easily remove corrosion that I've seen. Also, dunking steel cents in vinegar has been effective for me. Date: July 12th, 2025 2:10 PM Author: Dashing Underhanded Police Squad Boiling Water VerdiCare was made for early coppers. It's a solvent that doesn't impact a coin's surfaces, and targets verdigris & 'gunk'. I have like eight bottles of it and have used it for over a decade.
You can get good results with many orgo solvents (e.g., acetone, xylene), but you want to limit exposure to these. Oh, and DON'T spill them on your desk.
I always stay away from acids. Even diluted acids like vinegar can impact the surface of the coin. There's probably an art to acid cleaning, but I just don't do it. |
