Both sides use a four tier system for infantry.
Bottom tier are the disposable guys who are used to contact the enemy and expose opposing firing positions.
Second tier are the guys who hold trenches and only get rotated when they get injured.
Third tier is the high quality "assault" infantry who folow the initial contact wave. They periodically take large losses when they get caught out by artillery during an assault.
Highest tier are the specialists who operate weapon systems like drones, crew served automatic grenade launchers, sniper rifles, ATGMs. They generally are not used in frontal assaults.
