Just a string of "perfect" movies that can be re-watched 5000k times on cable and never lose their luster.

It's not that "90s films were better" but the blockbuster was perfected herein

Total Recall

Terminator 2

Jurassic Park

Forrest Gump

Pulp Fiction

Independence Day (Called "ID4" by Internet Losers)

Brosnan Bond, which is where they perfected the formula in terms of actual entertainment value

Michael Bay cinematic universe

The 1999 cinematic universe where like 20 movies came out

At this point it's intellectually dishonest to even ask this question. Just Accept that films suck. Expecting Popular Films to be good atm just goes against the zeitgeist.

Bloated budgets because they hire URMs to do Nothing/Ruin Everything (same problem as AAA Titles. Such is The State of Film).

They dgaf and hate us

It's a dying art form bc of short zoomer attention spans

Boomers pulling the ladder up

Millennials just suck at everything. Low-Income Gen X technicians/technocrats aging out.

90's studios used to churn out mid-budget blockbusters aimed mostly at adults, too. stuff like 'clear and present danger' or 'executive decision' and so on. films that didn't try to straddle between the adult and 'youth' markets.

I noticed the same thing when I was watching Tubi the other day.

- Pretty much anything with Harrison Ford was considered a mature "geo-political thriller" that was aimed at adult audiences.

I remember thinking as a kid how SMART you had to be to watch one of those films and how I couldn't wait to grow up so I could understand WTF they were talking about.

But now? JFC

a lot of it is ultimately just pro-regime/pro-'intel agency' propaganda. but it actually does take SOME intelligence and background to comprehend the message, propaganda or not. not all propaganda is aimed at tards or kids.

People seem to love making short videos on TikTok, I’m surprised more aren’t branching out and making self-funded Full Length Feature Films. I think you can upload like a 100 minute video file to YouTube iirc.

they actually tried to make one of these this year with "Fall Guy" for the first time in forever and it totally bombed. Don't expect many more.

"They" are all dead are retired. "They" are random journeymen like John Schwartzwelder doing all of the work. Or the guys who did the concept art and special effects for Star Wars. Jim Henson was assassinated imho.
