Since Nixon, only Biden has won after previously losing. Failures with multiple tries include: - Hillary - Ron Paul - Bernie - Romney - Christie - Gingrich - Buchanan - Rick Perry - John Edwards
I'm sure there are more, but those are all I can recall off the top of my head. It's highly unusual to succeed after losing once. Voters rarely change their minds. Furthermore, each of them has signature moments of failure: - Rubio getting bent over and fucked on the debate stage by Christie - Cruz listening to Trump shit talk his wife, refusing to endorse, and then turning around and endorsing him - DeSantis' social media parade of general cringe, between the lifts, the awful stilted interactions, etc.
All three have lost significant personal capital / gravitas. I think they each have zero chance at this point.
Obama was never in a position to need to "wait his turn" -- he had all the momentum he possibly could have had. Hillary in '04 is your best warrant here, she absolutely threw away her best shot there. |
