I see it as a result of the market, in any case. Dating apps, cultural memes, a whole lot of "churn and burn" type moves to create energy and friction to force more money out of a population increasingly deteriorating from such moves.

The "Money number growth at all costs" mindset has really done a number on the populations it is applied to. The expectation of a perpetual bull market comes at the expense of the long term health of the human economy it's generating wealth from. Learning to accept the bear market, do more with less, and building businesses around the realities of losses and shrinking activity is not just economically sound but a necessity; the alternative expresses itself in e.g. open borders to keep prices low at the expense of the native population, forcing novel forms of degeneracy to deracinate consumers and create new markets, and so on

The main thing that changed is that chicks don’t really fantasize as much about 1) weddings and 2) being a mom. Like a wedding is now a stage of life that has to be navigated, like turning 30, but it’s not something that chicks have strong opinions about when they’re teenagers or in college. When I was in college and the subject of a wedding came up you would immediately hear chicks firing off takes about rings, dresses, bridesmaids dresses, total headcounts, band v dj, etc etc. But basically for the last 15 years it has seemed like being too eager to get married or just picture herself getting married is way more frowned upon.

Similarly, when I was in college it seemed like any time a baby was around every college aged girl instinctively knew how to hold a baby and would beeline to any baby in her vicinity and would coo almost theatrically in between earnest and admiring comments and questions about the mom and the baby. Women under 30 these days and again for the past 15 years or so might do this for like a niece or nephew but never with a random stranger’s or acquaintance’s baby. And it’s much more common to see college aged girls—pretty, feminine ones who you would expect to picture themselves as moms one day—who act completely awkward and intimidated around babies the way I remember pubescent boys acting when I was a kid.
