It’s a weird echo chamber. It is. The 1990s Household Chamber vibe was like, “gaming is ignominious, why didn’t you make All-Stars, go Play Outside ffs.” Games had to be good enough to outweigh the ignominy. THAT’s the difference.
You go the whole game Sitting in a cockpit and don’t see the legs much at all. Naturally, check Reddit and they’re discussing the State of Character Models.
I had a Reddit subthread where I had a back and forth with some guy who Struggled at video games until his 20s. Doesn’t that read as developmental disability? We aren’t talking about Myst. Or Riven (the sequel to Myst).

Boss voices all worse
Allies voices some worse some better
Cutscenes don’t overstay their welcome and add Character Development
Best Nintendo graphics with possible exception of Prime 4 (worst game ever)
Secretly western developed (not Indie)
$50 (your move, AAA)
Multiplayer is OK but it just reminds me how much better Couch is (or preferably System Link). Im just shooting random idiots who might be bots

The character development is great. They really give you a lot of fun lil insights into the relationships and story in a very economical way. Shit like Wolf being annoyed with nepo baby Andrew, Fox being resentful/admiring of his Dad (who was a shitty businessman but good pilot), Falco being cocky but Secretly Heart of Gold, we love to see it.
the soundtrack was recorded at Abbey Road. it's awesome.
I think the multi has big potential, i've only done it against bots right now to get a feel for it, but I like the set up and the potential and love dogfighting generally.
I think the future for the series is something like this - keep the on rails/arcadey sections, but greatly expand the offerings and all range mode levels. I would like to open up the all range mode with bigger stages where you can really use altitude to your advantage (maybe play with physics--like add a gravity component where climbing takes more burn). And it would be cool if you had a set of squadron commands where you could set objectives for your wingmates.
