i think the idea is that it creates unneccessary pressure on the judges wrt presentation and visual formalism and they're already supposed to be so deep in contemplation about the work that it'd just be a pressure added for very marginal benefit w/r/t "transparency", which is covered for the most part with audio recordings
if i was deliberating on a difficult case the last thing i'd want was some court-tv type tmz shithead making dumb faces and waving his camera around in the background. some of the older guys are probably just straight up uncomfortable with it too, and understandbly so
