$1.9 million with an 8% return, with no additional principal added, will be $8.8 million in 20 years. that return rate might be overly aggressive given that you should be extremely cautious when running these numbers, but i think it's realistic given that the s&p has returned like 10% or more over the last 30 years.
at a minimum, we will continue maxing out retirement accounts for the next 5 years. assuming we do that and then cut off all retirement savings, we'll have just over $10m in 20 years. |

so assuming returns are similar to last year, we will hit 2 mil if not by the end of the year, early next year. i also have an equity payout coming in feb. that should be more than $150k after taxes are withheld. |

45 years old, so this may seem unimpressive, but our total net worth 10 years ago was about 400k. i got a late start saving. |
