rift between childless women and mothers. You see it manifest in stupid Twitter arguments when a mom posts something like "I can't help but laugh when my childless friends complain about being tired." Or when a childless woman complains about being on a plane next to a crying baby.
A lot of people think Vance is alienating women, but childless women are not going to vote Republican in a big way no matter what. I think it's a more strategic way to target "soccer moms."

Does the Vance hate seem organic to you? They would have run a blitz on Burgum and Carson if either of them were picked. What we're currently seeing is 200 million dollars of campaign spending being unleashed at once. All that to say, I think the "panic" over Vance is entirely inorganic. It comes mainly from a blitz from the Kamala campaign that will run out of steam somewhere between now and the beginning of the DNC.
The only real concern I have is the silence from the Trump campaign and their unwillingness to grab the spotlight. Obviously they still have a lot of time, but we need to see a response to this blitz that we haven't seen yet.
But there's no fucking way they need to "drop Vance" LJFL

Yeah it does seem pretty organic. The convention and the pick happened very recently, and Kamala came on board shortly thereafter.
Are they blitzing the GOP right now? Yeah but they should. This is a goldmine for them. An aspie doughy original anti-Trumper saying single women are bitter cat ladies and should pay more in taxes. If the goal is to win an election these comments deserve to be mocked.
The difference is if they did this to Burghum he is socially gifted enough to redeem himself. Vance cannot do that. And he doesn't have the gravitas or the pull with blacks of Dr. Carson.
Just a really retarded pick.

the OP has some nuance you aren't getting. no meaningful amount of blacks were going to swing for trump if he picked "Dr. Carson". i take it that the only people that would've been swayed by burghum are center-right, neoliberal/neocon republicans (correct me if i'm wrong). they're, i'd wager, overwhelmingly too turned off by trump to vote for him en masse OR they were already angry enough at the biden admin to vote against his successor, not for trump. suburban moms in battleground states are a very underdiscussed demographic, and they turned out much more for trump in 2016 than anyone thought. it seems retarded (it is retarded) that some of them would vote based on their feelings about the VP's wife, but that sort of shit actually influences birdbrain decision-making. vance is not charismatic, but the razor-thin margin is going to be swayed by all kinds of small, dumb bullshitty things. i think OP is right to point to female psychology, particularly that of those outside of huge liberal bastions, as a huge factor.

I keep saying that Republicans are morons if they don't define themselves actively as the party of men and families. Let dems be the party of women and blacks.
Unfortunately dems do a much better job of formalizing this relationship than cons do.

He should say that mothers are hot and sexy and childless women are ugly and men don't like them
That would really set these shrews off!

It's not the message but the messenger.
When SI puts a fatty on the cover, its okay for Rob Schneider to say "not beautiful", but it makes Jordan Peterson look stupid when he's fighting that battle.
Elon Musk looks fucking stupid when he owns Twitter but also pops off every dumb thing that pops on his head - things that most xoxo posters probably wouldn't even bother to make a thread about.
Vance is trying to make a point that Tucker Carlson articulates very well, which is that there is this class of elites who are childless and who have very different beliefs that people who have families. But Tucker isn't running for office. It's off putting when a politician looks at a large segment of the population and mocks them (not to mention that Vance just isn't as charming / eloquent as Tucker).
Look how much shit Hillary got for the deplorables comment and that was comparably kind.
