hey homie.
i need to get that knife out of my backpack to send some pics and do a review here. won't be able to contribute much since i'm a novice, but the thing is very high quality. going camping this weekend with about 10 people and i'm excited to show off my NEW BLADE.
how are things with you?

bro. please don't feel any pressure to do a review or post anything to the board about your knife. I'm happy you got it and that we now have a bond that will last forever. i still want to send you the insane messages this guy was sending me after i paid him. if we never talk about your beautiful spyderco swayback again, that would be perfectly fine with me.
i'm burning out man. i realized this morning that hanging out with my kids and going to sleep are the only things i look forward to each day.
a friend and i are partnering to start a youth pickup soccer organization. i'm really psyched about it and feel very energized to bring it to life.

no worries, i don't feel any pressure (hence the delay), but i enjoy bringing WHOLESOME content to xo as much as possible.
ugh, sorry to hear about the burnout. i feel like my adult life is constantly pressing the gas and pressing the brakes. like, if things don't feel busy enough, i start getting into more stuff. but then it can be overwhelming, so i have to scale it back. and since these are delayed, sometimes i wind up overcommitting to things.
hopefully winter is better. i find that things are often busiest as people are rushing to complete shit before the holiday season.

well, i don't think it's a generational thing.
the "spicy" fad has to do with capsaicin specifically. there are plenty of other "spicy" things, like horseradish and black pepper, but it's a different chemical than capsaicin that comes from peppers. also, despite both being "spicy", they are very different "types" of spice. the only similarity, really, is that they cause some sort of burning sensation.
i think the millennial obsession with "spiciness" is completely in line with getting really into cooking and shit. millenials are the product of boomers, who ate everything out of a box, and slowly we have been learning what good food is again. this is why serious eats and shit is so popular. and also why people moved out to portland to grow their own vegetables and slaughter their own livestock. obviously there's a spectrum to this. but millennials relearning how to cook and different ingredients led to the "spice challenge" shit as well. no different than "epic mealtime" shit.
as far as horseradish, it's never gone anywhere. it's just not as universally useful as hot sauce. you're not covering a wing in horseradish, for instance. also, don't forget the huge upswing of sushi and fresh wasabi. horseradish has it's place. but it's not as universally useful as peppers nor are you able to amp up the spice level for hot ones type challenges.

i'm doing sportsball tailgating 11/3 and took off 11/4 anticipating recovery for that. i'm waiting to see how i feel then. definitely have a lot of fun politically-tuned, irreverent friends where it would be fun to riff with on election night. but because it seems like such a foregone conclusion it's not very exciting to watch with others. not interested in doing high fives every time trump locks in another swing state +5. also, if the worst happens, i likely won't be much fun to be around, and don't want to put myself in a 2016 hillary fan situation and be around a bunch of people watching trump lose.
so, i'll probably be recovering from the weekend and watching a lone or with a couple trumpmo friends. maybe lex!
yes, i've very content. i have a very fulfilling life and am making great progress on all my long term goals. aside from that, everyday is a blessing. i've been doing a lot of outdoorsy stuff, which is always a good reminder about what a gift life is and how much God loves us. it's hard to not to be contented after spending a few days walking in the woods when the leaves are at their peak color.

“Nature never taught me that there exists a God of glory and of infinite majesty. I had to learn that in other ways. But nature gave the word glory a meaning for me. I still do not know where else I could have found one. I do not see how "fear" of God could have ever meant to me anything but the lowest prudential efforts to be safe, if I had never seen certain ominous ravines and unapproachable crags. And if nature had never awakened certain longings in me, huge areas of what I can now mean by "love" of God would never, so far as I can see, have existed.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
"At times, the joy that life attacks me with is unbearable and leads to gasping hysterical laughter. I find myself completely out of control and wonder how could life could surprise me again and again and again, so completely. How could a man be a cynic? It is a sin."
― Norm MacDonald

is this hvac btw?
if i could order a hooker on doordash i'd probably engage in it in moments of weakness. getting into it at the level you are is frankly too much work.
if this is hvac, why do you do it anyway? you have a great hog and body from your vids. is it the power dynamic? it's trivially easy to fuck these days if you're fit and have a decent job, so buying hookers seems like it's only for people that have a kink about it or old/brown/fat/etc.

had no idea there were two deep hooker enjoyers here. i know you've been around for a long, long time but the hooker shit just made me think i might have missed you becoming HVAC or something.
if it's so soulless, why do you do it? no judgment, i am no stranger to getting to deep into self destructive habits. jw.
edit: not sure if you edited that in or if i skipped over it, but ty. and as toward your rationale, i was just talking to someone recently about how him and i both tend to associate with a wide variety of "strange" people or get involved in "strange" experiences. i'm a pretty normal dude but have had some wild experiences and friends. idk, it's just fun, so i can see the appeal if that's your motivation.
