people really over rely on iq as a measure of "intelligence". pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, etc... yeah, those are definitely huge factors in how "smart" you are. but most things don't require that. med school is a lot of memorization and some application. and as long as you meet an iq threshold (110 or so) you can probably get the application correct enough to get into med school and succeed as a doctor.
doctors and lawyers aren't really that much different than mechanics or plumbers in that they typically take a procedure, practice it, and perform it. diagnosing problems requires iq, but is also something that can be learned over time at a certain iq floor. sure, the docs that are developing new treatments and medicines probably have to be very high iq. but your average family doc or orthopedic surgeon really doesn't require a super high iq. |

maybe it's an easier path if you strategically go to some crappier school but the curves tend to be harsher as well if you go to your average state school instead of whatever gay LAC or Ivy you went to |

any person of above reasonably average intelligence can do well in school and standardized tests with enough practice. the high iq guy might be able to bust out an lsat in the high 170s after a couple practice tests. but a 115 iq guy can still get there with enough practice. and that person often deludes themselves into thinking they're in the 130s or 140s based on their performance. |
