I remember 10+ years ago you suddenly reengaged and had a ton of energy and new ideas, most of which were shit. If the bort is working, most other stuff will take care of itself.

Point is a while ago you came back, there was a flurry of excitement, but most of the stuff you proposed was pure shit. The single best thing for the bort is that it keeps functioning. Other changes might be good or bad (functional search sounds good) but you don't need to change things for the sake of change.

don't worry, we have about 3 days left of rach giving a fuck, 20 years of experience have shown this, nonetheless god bless our absentee landlord and let's humor him while he pretends

were you on some sort of drugs when you came up with the invite scheme? none of the best poasters would ever admit to poasting here and only the weirdos will ever use it

what alternatives do you suggest?
open registration without sponsorship is how you get the real weirdos. here, if someone's inviting an army of discord trannies, i'll start to notice their ratio is pretty bad and uproot them all.
registration with .edu is pretty obsolete. it exposes people's identities, even if i don't retain the addresses, and it's selecting for a population that isn't really representative of the community anymore.
was this even a serious question, or do you want to waste what remains of the final three days of my drug-fueled coding marathon?

well I'm suggesting that given the three day time limit you won't "notice" anything, not that I blame you but come on you won't be monitering this shit, you're basically just giving out codes to guys who will use it to register alt accounts, I understand the userbase isn't growing but it isn't going to grow unless you manage to make this site relevant to law students again, which you can't, we are a relic

not really, but I do think it would be worth considering that the old balding lawyers on here are not going to be inviting their friends to poast and the invites will probably be used for evil, just a heads up, none of us know any fresh young talent

something that was fun about the old pr board was the way moniker changes were not retroactive. you could bounce around the board making 1000 new names and no one would ever be able to trace it back to you.
we lost that with the way i designed this board. i prefer it this way, but it's nice to let people actualize their mpd

I’ve given out 50 something codes to twitter people who expressed interest to the AutoAdmit account. 35 have signed up already. Haven’t used a single code on myself because everyone on this site who wants tons of alts already has tons of alts. And it’s been that way for decades. We need new blood and this is worth trying

incredible work
it's also silly that we should be so afraid of sponsoring some new people. if someone is malicious, they'll get banned. it won't even be as hard because they're less likely to have 300 alts, and that probably discourages bad behavior in the first place.

I currently have a glock 17 as my bedside gun, wtf are you talking about? Have you imagined a world that doesn't exist and based your opinions on that?
what are your main concerns about fully opening up registration and are there ways those concerns could be mitigated?
like for your worry about "real weirdos" coming (lol!!), maybe add block functionality to hide threads/poasts by a specific poaster. then the benefit of new content would outweigh the potential unpleasantness of Bad Poasters since we could just ignore them as needed
MY main concern would be ai agents registering a bunch and/or spamming. those could be mitigated somewhat with whatever captcha type thing fools the bots nowadays and lots of rate limiting
