Nobody really cares about any of these old war movies, like no one talks about them or cares about them but imo they’re alright. Basically the same genre as cinematography as old westerns. Discuss.

'near-in' WWII films from the 1950's don't seem nearly as triumphalist as later WWII films. a lot of them are mostly sad/melancholy, like 'the cruel sea' or the 1950's dunkirk movie, or western-financed japanese WWII movies like the burmese harp. or films like 'ice cold in alex' where the enemy is seen as complex and sympathetic. it's interesting compared to what came later.

A lot of it especially the naval movies is just Cannons firing. Also nobody really cared about the holocaust until like 1990 for some reason.

There are the 30s-70s American westerns which are the Same Film, then spaghetti westerns, then a few Clint Eastwood westerns, then the modern attempts that NOBODY cares about.
