Biden thinks he can be President. He is wrong, but that is what he thinks. This is a real debacle, it’s not some manufactured crisis. Getting Joe to step out of the way may also prove to be difficult. The old geezer is prideful and confident in his abilities. He doesn’t see what we see. Perception is funny that way. If you’d like to screen a good film on this concept, I would recommend The Man Without a Face (1993). It’s about Mel Gibson being a pedophile and abusing a young boy, but the boy denies the abuse, denies reality, and only feels true love for his abuser. It’s sick stuff, but it’s a world into self-denial and the ways in which our mind can warp reality. |

I used to think there was an Obama court in the background, which would explain why a third rate senator with middling intellect and a generic moderate Democratic record, selected solely to be the dummy comic relief in the Obama administration that would forever always make Obama look good by comparison, suddenly became the most left wing progressive administration in American history, carrying out policies that Obama himself wouldn't have dared even if he strongly supported them.
But while staffers may have gone to Obama for advice, he's not pulling the strings. Power warps people's minds. Biden is old and obstinate, deeply believes only he can "save" the country from Trump so it's an existential struggle for him. His family is also scared of the prospects of a Trump DOJ. They're not giving up the throne. They already have the delegates and the fundraising and ground organizations under their control, which means the rest of the party can't just tell him to step aside.
The Democrats are in a mess because it was convenient for them not to look too closely at the emperor's new clothes but Thursday night destroyed that illusion. It's a classic theme that has repeated itself throughout history in kingdoms and empires of old. |
