Meaning obviously the movie was far fetched but a procedural flaw that almost ruined the movie.

Why after he made the first like 10 sacks/tackles in the first game were his teammates still disgruntled towards him/not high fiving him.

IRL that would’ve never happened. After he made 1 or 2 the team would’ve warmed up to him.

Other than that, the “outlandish” storyline sort of worked.

Also fun fact/test. Lawyers fuckin HATE waterboy. Everyone I mention it too “oh I’m too intelligent for that!” Or “it’s too slapstick!”

Meanwhile they got 164 LSATs. Try creating “The Complete Idiots Guide to Coaching College Football” as a midwit

thank. people need to be a lot more transparent about some of the flaws in this 1998 American sports comedy film directed by Frank Coraci.

Here’s the thing. If he had a “Complete Idiots Guide to Coaching Football” it wouldn’t have been as funny as coaching COLLEGE football. Hard to explain why but it’s one of the genius things about the move. It was super outlandish and stupid but then there’s specific things like that—Makes it watchable.

I always thought, and built an internal head canon around, the idea that his teammates resented Bouche's obvious extreme mental retardation. The work was subversively a debate on integration of tards into our broader society. This is missed, or worse dis-missed, by most commentators.

Agreed 100%. But use baseball as an example. You have a straight retard on the team. Everyone’s like what the FUCK is this guy on the team for? Everyone’s hates him. But first at bat he hits a home run. No way is anyone going to have the same attitude towards him after the home run.

Waterboy would’ve the equivalent to hitting three home runs and everyone still shunning him in the dugout not giving him high fives. Completely unrealistic to the point that in a movie as outlandish as Waterboy, this almost ruin it.

Now imagine the retard hits three home runs then misses a fly ball that costs the game. I still think the team would say shit well this guy hit three home runs maybe it’s our fault we left the game close enough for some retard to miss a fly ball and lose the game.

The scene at the end where he threw the ball to the other team was necessary for the plot of the movie but placed in a weird spot. Maybe it wasn’t necessary at all.
