as men lose social status and women gain (pseudo)-status, professionally and economically, the premium placed on indicators of coarse forms of masculinity (sheer size, height, dominance, low-grade abusiveness e.g. 'negging', sociopathy) increases.
100 years ago, under a patriarchal organization of society in which women were firmly subordinated in every sense, someone who followed Peterson's model of masculinity would have been invested with more status, and someone like Tate would have been seen as beyond the pale, a brute.
gentility and masculine status could coexist then, because men had monopolies on all forms of social status (College Professorships, etc), and that status could be transmuted into 'masculinity'. now, women essentially dominate many of the professions (artificially), so these forms of status have lost their ability to confer masculinity.
the only forms of masculine status that are still monopolized by males involve the raw attributes of manhood previously mentioned -- physical power, testosterone, violent aggression, etc. so these have become the only things that women value in men, because they are the things that remain out of reach to the ongoing process of political reapportionment of male status (professional/economic/cultural) unto womyn. |
