what does "reducing the deficit" mean then that's an annual figure and the presidency is 8 years long? are we just saying because Bush was in office for the start of ITE and the bailout caused a big deficit, and Trummp had COVID, that the democrats are Good? rank intellectual dishonesty.

You can look at the trends here. So even if we don't count crazy stimulus years it looks like Trump and Bush come off worse.

FY 2008 (doesn't include bailouts) 0.45 trillion

FY 2016 0.59 trillion

FY 2017 0.67

FY 2019 0.98 (no Covid stimulus)

In two years Trump jacked up the deficit more than 2x the amount that Obama did over 8 years.

The Bush comparison looks even worse no matter how you slice it. Even if you leave off FY 2008.

About 1/3 of US debt is accounted for by the Bush and Trump I tax cuts.

Laffer curve. You can’t do math like that LTM. It’s complicated.

Also “increase in the deficit” is still dumb. just look at the debt. Worst part of this chart BY FAR is 2021-2024. $9.5 trillion in 4 years and COVID was over or should’ve been. Biden SUCKED and stretched COVID out for no reason.
