Very tall white guy, mid 70s. Probably 6’6” at least. I heard he made a bunch of money investing in the stock market and Hedo was his favorite place to visit, so when the prior owners were about to go bankrupt and Sandals next door was trying to buy Hedo he stepped in and bought it to keep it open. A little later I was at the pool bar when he walks up and gets in line behind me. We traded small talk and he asks about my wife’s hat. We chatted for 5-10 minutes and he says “you all know I’m the owner, right?” Said he didn’t want to bring it up but it felt awkward and he didn’t want us to say something bad about the resort by accident.
Saw him off and on again the rest of the week. Very nice and acts just like any other guest. Seems to have lots of female friends. I looked him up when I got home. Former fund manager for Fidelity’s Magellan fund (largest mutual fund in the US at the time). Third successor to Peter Lynch.

You have to be completely naked on the nude side. Saw security come up to people several times and ask them to either disrobe or leave. I actually really like this because it makes everyone a participant rather than a spectator. I’ve been in clothing optional settings before and it’s more awkward to be naked when there are people in clothes standing around. You have to be clothed in the restaurants and lobby but otherwise can be naked anywhere. We walked out of our room nude, which was fun. The prude side is arguably nicer than the nude side, but it seems like nearly the entire population of the resort is in the nude pool during the day. Nude pool is open again at night, so folk tend to go to dinner, then the piano bar, and wind back up at the nude pool/hot tub from 12 until 2 or 3. Bar stays open and they have pizza after 12.

Entry picture is posted above. It’s only open late at night. Inside there is a big open area with mattresses on the floor. There are four in the center of the room which is open to the sky. There are a few more around the edges of the room. Maybe 8 total. When you walk in you have to disrobe immediately and there are cubbies for clothes. There are some semi private rooms and a dungeon section behind a door with a saint Andrew’s cross and swings, but we never got beyond the main area. There’s a shower and a plunge pool.
There’s an attendant who strips sheets and replaces them as people leave. You pick up towels on the way in and lay them down on the mattresses before laying on them. At one point we had 7 other couples around us. It’s mostly couples playing but we did see a foursome one night. It’s pretty dark so you mostly just see silhouettes, but others are close enough to reach out and touch at times. Fucking next to others is 180^180.
When you’re done there’s a big yellow Igloo water cooler on a folding table and paper cups so you can get a drink as you are recovering and heading out.
The other playroom is a few steps from the nude pool. It’s called the Happening Hut and is a much smaller, basic wood structure with just a couple mattresses but does have AC. Frankly it looked a little scary and we never ventured in though I did see people going in and out. |

There are three restaurants in addition to the buffet: Harry San (teppanyaki and sushi), Pastafari (Italian), and Flame (Steak). The best was Pastafari for us. Steak and shrimp were legitimately 9/10 two nights. Steaks cooked to medium rare exactly and not a bit of fat or gristle. Flame was ok, ordered churasco steak and it was good not great. HarrySan sushi was merely ok. Service was excellent across the board.
Drinks were always excellent. You get top shelf pours without having to call out brands. e.g., vodka tonic gets you grey goose. They have a nice port.
Breakfast is buffet service, and stands up to much nicer vanilla resorts we’ve visited. |

Staff are paid premium rates and it’s regarded as a good job so many of the staff stay on for years. You can tip into a communal pool at the end, which we did.
