Date: July 8th, 2024 6:37 PM Author: Provocative indian lodge persian So our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making. They arise out of ourselves, and we are an extreme example of self-will run riot, though we usually don’t think so. Above everything else we… must be rid of selfishness. We must or it kills us! God makes that possible. And there often seems no way of entirely getting rid of self without His aid. Many of us had moral and philosophical convictions galore, but we could not live up to them even though we would have liked to. Neither could we reduce our self-centeredness much by wishing or trying on our own power. We had to have God’s help.
This is the how and why of it. First of all, we had to quit playing God. It didn’t work. Next we decided that hereafter in this drama of life, God was going to be our director. He is the Principal; we are His agents. He is Father and we are His children. Most good ideas are simple, and this concept was the keystone of the new and triumphant arch through which we passed to freedom. |

i've heard good things about naltrexone. epah's advice about aa is good. talking to former alcoholics is great. there's not one recovered alcoholic that feels worse being off the sauce. contrast that with something like heroin where life is so good on it that it seems bland in contrast. alcoholism is just a vicious cycle of feelings like shit all the time.
benzos are a bad idea. they don't even prescribe that shit to alcoholics. you need to taper and stop. talk to an addiction doctor, there are some things like naltrexone that may help. but exchanging one hyper addictive substance for another is cope. people on harder stuff try that all the time. 1. Finish the alcohol and tie one off, enjoy it. 2. Take a Valium four hours after your last drink. Go to sleep and sleep as long as you can. 3. Take more Valium every 12 hours for 72 hours. 4. You are now sober. Go to a meeting and change your life.
DO NOT take Valium and drink. The Valium is for detoxing. If you do it right you will have three days of amazing sleep. |
