Visiting Italy. Rome just isn't a good city to live in more than 1 week. It also seems most expensive. Milan is more walkable and like a better version of Manhattan, u have options for cheaper restaurants and quality clothing in addition to all the luxury, can get drunk super cheap. But apt prices are like manhattan.. now I'm in turin and it's obviously smaller. If u live here u can take a 1hr train to milan or drive for the skiing. But the prices are again not cheap at all.. a decent apt like this https://www.idealista.it/en/immobile/26892344/

That's too much to spend if u just visit occasionally and never rent it out. The only advantage over buying a studio in Manhattan for the same price is that maintenance/tax for this apt is actually less than a studio in Manhattan. But I really thought u could get a decent apt under $2000/sqm

Oh forgot to mention anything less than 5* hotel in cities like rome/milan/turin are shitboxes. And 5* hotel costs the same as in Manhattan. Nice is actually more affordable in terms of decent hotels unless u go in the summer.

I'm not benzo or trustfund. So I actually check prices and I do not see much price difference in dinner between Manhattan, east and west Europe. And hotels too, I got $200/night Antalya at the start of last year season I bet nothing under $300 this year. And east Europe hotels already cost as much as west last year. I paid $400 for a crappy room in Paris in November low season.

For example...Top end hotel in Aspen is $3,500/night. Top end hotel in St. Moritz is ~$900/night(to say nothing of the fact that a lift ticket is 45Euro in St.M vs. $250 in Aspen and Euro rentals are a fraction of the cost). Going to the grocery store in NYC to buy eggs, etc...is $120 every time. In Europe you can buy the same produce for $20-30. Rent in every Euro city and purchase price for apts is significantly lower than NYC. Even uber/taxis are much cheaper in Europe. Alcohol you can go out for a night for $80-100 easily while NYC is $20+/drink + tip, etc...There's simply no contest. You can live a higher quality of life for significantly less $ in Europe vs. NYC at the moment.

It's insane how low the QOL is for the price in America these days. The (((tipping))) culture is also out of control. "Here's some insanely overpriced crap, where the pretax price is at least 150% more than the final price in Europe but also now (((tax))) and 30% (((tip)))!"

Renos are way more expensive in the US, especially in a major metro. The most offensive is the concept of (((maintenance payments))) on apartments you already own in the U.S. You pay a pittance annually in Europe when you own. The U.S. you pretty much and still pay rent forever. LJFL.

As I implied before, you're as far away from reality as benzo. Why would u have a hotel in aspen and grocery shopping in the same sentence? I stayed in lake Tahoe at the base of the chairlift last winter for under $200/night and it was a decent quality room, comparable to any I've stayed at in europe. I do think in the future it is easier to find quality value at euro resorts, just because skiing is more accessible there but no normal person pays $3500/night anywhere (that's only if u are trying to impress a literal whore or intentionally spending another person's $). I agree that maintenance/tax in USA is out of control which makes buying a condo in Manhattan or miami now a terrible idea. But in europe u still would be paying too much for any decent condo.

"Why would u have a hotel in aspen and grocery shopping in the same sentence?"

To explicate that everything from super high end hotels to grocery staples are cheaper in Europe vs. America.

"I stayed in lake Tahoe at the base of the chairlift last winter for under $200/night"

There are no nice hotels in Squaw right under the chairlift. You could probably find a similar place in Europe for 1/2 the price. The argument isn't that there's nothing affordable in America, it's that options at the same level of quality cost much more in the U.S.

Your argument is from the point of view of a trustfund or escort, same as benzo, u have no idea in reality. Squaw is on the other side of lake Tahoe, this is heavenly. Normal people don't do grocery shopping when on vacation (except maybe bottles of water) and just don't spend that much on a hotel room. A typical dinner anywhere from Riga to Paris costs 30-50euros per person and plenty of restaurants in Manhattan at similar rate.

People who say Europe is cheap specifically compare major cities like Milan or Barcelona(which they would say is even cheaper southern europe) and then they add even cheaper eastern europe(which in fact has lower salaries but same prices as the west). They may be right in a way. You can rent a liveable apartment in euro and do grocery shopping much cheaper than in USA. Then u also can go out to a restaurant in your local city unlike a prole from Columbus Ohio who would book a trip to Paris lol. So a prole can live a better life in europe with free Healthcare. But none of that applies if u actually plan to buy property there or regularly stay at hotels that are not shitboxes. Or buy a luxury car.

Pretty idiotic and MAF reply little guy. If I tell you eggs cost X in the US and Y in Europe it doesn't really matter how much $ I have. The fact is the same lifestyle in the US costs more than it does in Europe.

From the little grocery shopping I've made in euro I did not notice any significant difference and doubt that someone who spends $3500/night at a hotel would notice. Also even if this were true, grocery shopping I'd a significant part of budget only among people on minimum wage. Dropping $1million on an apt in nice(or anywhere) that's empty 50weeks per year is the real expense.

And as has been told to you 100x in this thread, $1mm buy a lot more apt in a major euro city than it does in NYC for example. For example, 990,000Euro buys you this apt in PARIS which is ~2,800 SQFT: https://www.maisonsetappartements.fr/ads/2791437?lang=fr&departement=75&TypeAnnonce=VEN&TypeBien=APP&dep=75&fromRecherche=1 . LMAO at finding more than a studio in MFH for $1mm.

Lol u picked an apt next to Gare du nord. This is at best the same neighborhood as Harlem. In nyc I can buy a 500sqft studio in yorkville with brickwalls for under 300k.

Turin is probably one of the more affordable "major" real estates in euro, it is cheaper than Lisbon or budapest... but it would still be $300k+ for a modest apt that I could never rent out at a profit. And Italian population is in decline despite colored people everywhere so very possible tax and maintenance will go up just like in USA. Most young people in euro rent cheaply or inherit from their grandpa.

I did not find anything that's liveable or actually in turin (as opposed to a farm 10km away or a foreclosure). Turin is advertised as the place with under $2000/m but in the actual city I see at least $3000+/m

Really if u compare turin and nice they may be some of the better value for money cities but still overpriced as u could never rent them out for profit even if held for 20 years. Their populations are in decline despite nice promenade being permanently occupied by black bums. If u bought a studio in Manhattan 5 years ago ud be cashflowing now and even more so for growing cities like Columbus.

Spend every summer in Europe and this is NOT TRUE. Flights have gone up, but real estate (even in high end neighborhoods/cities), food, and basic necessities are far cheaper.

A nice dinner with alcohol at a nice Euro restaurant = $100-$200 for two people. Wife and I went out last weekend and dropped nearly $500 for a comparable meal. The wine is considerably more expensive in the US, along with any protein dish. Apps are MARKED UP.

By "apps are marked up" are u referring to ordering restaurant food home(something that only instawhores and rsf do)? I would never spend $500 for 2 even in Manhattan, plenty of good places where the main dish is under $30. In euro i have more choices of quality restaurants (in USA outside of Manhattan it is difficult to find quality French, Italian, Turkish, etc), but price difference only if I am stupid enough to eat Buffalo testicle at Cipriani in nyc. BTW flights are still OK, only expensive in the summer, I get under $600 in spring from miami.

I'm still thinking of buying an apt somewhere in Europe just to have a base with my things. So fly in and then decide getting drunk for 2 weeks or take another trip to the mountains or the sea. But have to accept its a money sink. Turin seems relatively cheap but would still drop $300k just to have something liveable. Maybe get a live in whore there.

Even "expensive" European cities like London are affordable to visit due to strong dollar and absence of sales tax and tipping.

Eating and drinking in Paris and London are no more expensive than a mid tier American city like Denver or Chicago. Hotel rooms are smaller in Europe but you get better quality/location than the similar priced ones in America
