The restaurant patron willingly pays this absurd upcharge under the implicit agreement that he's doing so for the pleasure of enjoying a time out. Now imagine being OK with tipping the establishment $80 but thinking that a waiter doesn't deserve $20. You've already tipped some rich asshole 4x that amount. And what was the 'skill' the owner had? Being rich and running a business?
But I agree with you fraud is wrong. And some waiters steal people's credit cards. Restaurants that double charge people are likely failing as a business and falling behind. Waiters who steal should be prosecuted. |

After the first couple times I finally noticed I was paying $30 for a gristly Reuben and looked into it further. I stopped going there.
