The human construct known as “ethnicity” is a mixture of various elements. One is culture, another is ancestry. Linton is culturally Korean and ancestrally White American. nyuug is the other way around. Hence the term “ethnically Korean” applies to a certain extent to both of you, but perhaps neither of you can be said to be 100% ethnically Korean or 100% ethnically American.
This complexity is because the concept of ethnicity is not all that precise and applies more at a group level and doesn’t always fully capture every individual person. |
