In particular, does Judge Ulmer to law & motion every day, or are there particular days when another judge fills in?

Ulmer does law and motion more or less exclusively. There's no way to predict in advance what dates he's going to be out. You could scrape the tentatives and do a statistical analysis if it matters that much.

Actually, it looks like he subbed out the last three Fridays. Maybe you could try scheduling it on a Friday.

Ty man. I seem to remember something like this a few years ago, when Schulman had Fridays (I think). I gather than xo doesn't like Jews, but Schulman was 10x smarter than Ulmer.

I think he's just overworked and biding time until he gets to retire.

You could just 170.6 him if you feel that strongly about it.

I'm just afraid he's the type to think that Davis Polk is presumptively right, and not read the cases to see that they're wrong.

I have a few cases there now and what a shitshow it is. There are judges that seem like they should be decent picks, but JFC they don't know anything about pretty standard corporate litigations. California is such a pro-plaintiff judicial shithole.
