my para 3 (bentobox gray g10 and maxamet variety) had great action out of the box. my pm2 (micarta and cruwear) was a bit stiff and had a break in period.
I thought the sage 5 LW was supposed to not need a break in bc of the bushing pivot system. If it doesn't loosen up in a day or so of playing with it, id consider sending it back to blade HQ. |

Used all of that plus some extra cash to buy my current house for mid-700s with a $430k mortgage at like 2.7%. Under contract November 2020, so a bit before the market went absolutely bonkers. My all in mortgage payment is like $2,700/month.
Houses in my neighborhood that are slightly newer but the same size and with smaller yards sell for $1.2 - 1.3M. Zestimate for my house is $1.04M and this doesn't include another full bathroom we added.
The knife in the OP was a pre-order that I placed a year ago. With kids' activities and rising cost of everything, i'm not planning to spend any money on anything frivolous for the foreseeable future. |

Date: September 27th, 2022 2:00 PM Author: Honey-headed chest-beating spot 1) materials: handle is black anodized (not coated) titanium, with a red anodized aluminum insert (aluminum isn't the most exotic material). Blade steel is s90v steel which is high end and highly regarded.
2) fit and finish: knife was built in the reate factory which is well known to produce the highest quality production knives. It's perfect. The insert is totally flush into the handle, all the pieces are perfectly engineered from the pivot, to blade centering, to the pocket clip.
3) Action/fidget factor: The flipping action is perfect. The right amount of pressure applied to the flipper tab has the blade flying out and clicking into place in a very satisfying way. The large slit in the blade provides another means of deployment (i.e. flicking). The close is perfect as well with it shutting in a controlled hydraulic like manner and then clicking firmly into place.
4) design: designed by the famous Brian Nadeau of Sharp by Design knives, the curves are beautiful on the handle and all well rounded, so it is very ergonomic. The blade shape and finishing is also very interesting. It has a cool tanto blade with a slight amount of belly with a compound hollow grind. Just very cool stuff and attention to detail. |
