are the cherry blossoms still in bloom?
0. if so, nakameguro (still worth going if not in bloom, but it's 190 atmosphere if the cherry blossoms haven't passed peak already)
1. yoyogi park
2. senso-ji
3. took bad edo tokyo hakubutsukan is closed for renovations, it's 180
4. book a ryokan with a hot spring in hakone, preferably one with a tasting menu, enjoy soaking with a view of mt fuji and a bunch of weird japanese foods you'll NEVER find in the states
5. there's no sumo comps in march, but see if you can visit a sumo stable to watch practice
6. meiji shrine is in a beautiful setting
7. in case you're wondering, it's definitely too late for you to get tickets to the ghibli museum; they sell out months in advance

thank you for the legit recommendations!
I think cherry blossoms might start end of next week/probably after I leave.
Ghibli is a bit overrated anyway, if they sell out months in advance, not worth it.

Do NOT do: robot cafe, samurai museum, anything else that is aggressively advertised to gaijin
DO visit: ukiyo-e museum, akihabara/ikebukuro if weeaboo, yasukuni to pay respects to the true heroes enshrined there
I liked shinjuku gyoen better than yoyogi park, definitely visit at least one

I went to two Ukiyo-e galleries/stores today.
One had plenty of Hiroshiges. (Yes, I understand what you mean by original. Personally, I don't think it's worth buying modern reproductions.)

Of course, even with the original print runs, there's a huge variance on quality and if the printer was a skilled one or not (register, colors, etc.). Many of the less popular/lower quality Hiroshiges were in the $2k ballpark. Famous ones were closer to $50-90k.

yeah i've seen reprints of the one i want from mid-century that go for a few hundred dollars; i'm hoping to get one for under 10K. I don't need M/NM quality. A dog-eared corner or something where there isn't any of the actual work is perfectly fine; it'll be mounted, framed, and hung on my wall, and yeah i have a mini-gallery i rotate my collection through at my house and try to curate themes, and i have museum rails to swap them out, and i have some good lighting, but i still don't need to drop that much on something
i'm not a museum that needs the best quality to preserve it mint; I want to enjoy the work, and some aging probably makes it more valuable to me personally as i acn look at it knowing it's REAL
kind of like diamonds where flaws make them more valuable than perfect factory ones
thanks for the link; i've not seen that one before. I've emailed a couple Japanese-language galleries before (not gonna pay as much bc I won't be paying for the convenience of having an English speaker intermediary I don't need), but I really should get off my butt and tell them if they see one they can acquire and resell to me, let me know

- Dress up as a Mario Kart character and drive around the streets of Tokyo in a go-cart. This will be the highlight of your trip, believe me
- Shibuya Sky for the best lookout point in all of Tokyo
- Skip DisneySea, it's overrated
- Day trip to Yokohama
