She was 180 in every way and we couldn’t go on a date Wednesday but we face timed for an hour. All laughs. Then we went on a date Thursday. I rarely take a girl out to dinner on the first date but she was literally “the one” and we got along so well before the date that I figured why not give this a shot.
She sees me and is smiling ear to ear and gives me an “it’s you!” look and we hug. The date is going amazingly well and I bring up height. I say “thank you so much for picking me to go on a date I know you had the opportunity to go on a date with a lot of taller guys!”
She kind of looks at me sideways. She said “lol I’m 5’1 who am I to judge about height. Plus you’re extremely handsome. Better looking in real life! Your height is perfect!”
I was like “lol wtf? How can you tell me 5’10 is perfect? 6’2 or 6’3 is perfect. Im far from perfect. I wish I was taller. I think any guy in my position would want to be taller. You’re not attracted to taller guys?”
She responded: “lol is this a joke? No I’m telling you I’m extremely attracted to you. I don’t know what to tell you. Do you not want me to be attracted to you? Like wtf?”
Then I got a little louder: “no I want you to acknowledge that height is a very important factor in determining someone’s attractiveness. There are plenty of 6’3 guys out there for you to date. Why not just acknowledge that you’re more attracted to them than me. I’m supposed to believe that you’re the one girl on the planet not attracted to height above all else?”
Her: “ok look I’m freaked out I want to leave. I have no idea what’s wrong with you. I have to go. *almost in tears*”
I offered to pay for the one drink she had but she insisted and left. No idea how I could have approached this differently. Should I have brought up the height thing on FaceTime? |

She was short and stocky, but VERY into me, almost unbearably so; we had bonded over how we were both doing Dry January and decided to grab a coffee and go for a walk, and the entire time she couldn't stop glowingly adoring me or keeping real close to me to the point of almost violating my personal space.
Anyway, forget how it came up but at one point she said something to the tune of 'you're tall anyway' and I autistically and forcefully stopped her to say 'no, I'm 5'8" that's not tall." She was really taken aback and her adoration for me briefly declined. Of course, then my top UG came up and she, a wannabe shrew, was so impressed with that that her adoration picked up again and surpassed where it was before.
Didn't see her again but in hindsight I should've. |
