I was slightly overweight when my husband and I met when I was 26, and have steadily gained a few pounds every year since then. My husband is the same, slightly overweight and has steadily gained. Over the last several months I have been trying really hard to lose weight and get healthy. I’m now below what I weighed when I met my husband and look pretty good. Ever since this change, my husband seems happier, we have sex more, and he is generally nicer and more romantic with me. This makes me literally hate him. I can’t stand behind around him and try so hard to pretend everything is ok. He says nice things to me or does nice things and I have to leave the room to go cry. All of this is because I’ve lost weight. I’m so so devastated that he’s treating me so differently. I feel like he never really loved me. My feelings for him have been the same no matter what hjs weight was. Idk, I just don’t know how to get over this or if I ever can? |

Talk to him. This genuinely might not be about your weight unless he has said so. This could very well be because YOU seem happier with yourself and are more open sexually. Talk to him about how you are feeling.
I will say this - my husband is overweight. When he loses weight I am more attracted to him not because of the weight loss but because he is happier, he has more energy and a zest for life. The weight is the catalyst for the other changes because he is less tired. Just a thought.
If this really is about the weight loss, that is messed up. But I know my husband is happier when I am happier (and vice versa). -----------------

Are you certain you know this is the reason? If you’re feeling better, taking care of yourself, you might be happier. Less down, fewer arguments, more confidence. If he got with you while you were heavier, then it’s unfair to assume losing weight is why he still loves you 3 kids later. Which means you need to communicate with him and find out the truth. It takes a truly diabolical mind to have the birdbrain invented problem be “he’s finally giving me the affection that I wanted and praising my hard work and I hate him for it because he’s shallow and won’t love me again when I gain it all back.” Like I’m sure it has been said or thought by plenty of birdbrains in this context but taking it to this extreme and leaving him because of it is the flame tell because it casts the husband as having failed a social justice principle in order to meet her unmet need and in reality women who get married and have kids and get fat and then get skinny and cheat have to cast him as *worse* than she realized and *unsupportive* of her specifically to maintain the notion that they are justified in betraying him. They don’t actually value their husband’s feminist consciousness over his ability to continue serving as a reliable beta provider because that conflicts with their fundamental cavewoman programming. They have to cast him as a weak failure to break him off and go chase Chad caveman’s dick. |
