The 90's were perfect, but college left a lot to be desired.

Junior and Senior year of high school and freshman and sophomore year of college. All for different reasons ie there are both a bunch of amazing experiences to relive that I think about all the time and a bunch of mistakes I made that I would love to redo.

Hmm good point. There’s a strong argument for 23-27 as the period where I cost myself the opportunity to be a decamillionaire before age 40. I took the OP to be “which four years would be most enjoyable + presents the biggest chance to change everything” but 23-27 was definitely way more directly impactful on my finances and overall life course for the next 2+ decades.

early 20's were pretty good. shitty job -> early grad school felt like a real accomplishment and the future seemed bright, despite the clouds beginning to darken in the outside world; i was poor but beer was like $1-2 a bottle; daily life was confusing but exciting; and there was that sweet give and take of finally starting to feel competent in some ways and yet still getting knocked down by the idiocy of youth to learn new things about the world. i miss that period more and more.

The heavy petals of thought,

Tired of what he wants

And sick of what he ought,

He is content to watch

The window fill with snow

Making even the Future

Seem long ago.

If we were able to go back and fix mistakes that would impact our current lives, I would redo 18-22 in college. Sounds like we can’t in this hypo, so I would probably just redo high school.

The answer is always college.

And notice no one picks the years after college - i think most people find those years to be difficult and kind of depressing.

Like you're still broke, you have to work a lot, you have no idea what you're doing, you still go out and get drunk at bars but unlike college where everyone knew each other its just with strangers and like 1/10th as fun.
