My ex and i ended up as addicts, after an accident and dental work, & i kept it together much better than he did, for much longer. He was much smarter on the streets, i could keep a job, that type of thing. We both would've been lost without the other, but that doesn't mean we didn't have some really awful fights or seething anger over what we thought was someone pulling less weight, etc. I never thought he was mentally messing with me, no gaslighting, no sick version of love, just a sick version of himself.
