Proles cannot withstand the propaganda apparatus designed to make them Sell Low. Proles with brokerage accounts where Losses are colored red (😔) and gains are like 🤑 are going to Sell Low to make the Bad Stocks go away. If they don't they will be Gripped by melancholy and indecision and inner turmoil.

With RE they can't sell. They have to live in the house. The house is where they keep their truck ($80,000k). So, imho, Normal Bros should buy houses. Discuss.

This is with all of that aside.

The mortgage interest deduction only yields anything noticeable on something approaching a jumbo loan. most people have fuck-all for deductions. Married couple would only see a benefit to the extent the mortgage exceeds like $3500k/month.

I'd bet against SFH RE appreciating in the future with shrinking populations and the erosion of the family. Who will millennials sell their $1.5M+ shitboxes to in the next 20-30 years when they're ready to downsize?

as I said RE is a worse investment but irl people will literally always just invest enough into a 401k to "get the match" and that's it. They're just going to Sell Low if they try to manage their own investments.

This is why getting rid of defined benefit pensions just leads to more Consooming and underfunded retirements which require de facto bailouts, all else equal. if people had defined benefit pensions and salaries were like 20% lower, ceteris paribus, trucks would be $55,000k instead of $80,000k because prole demand wouldn't be so insatiable.
