Oh diss veddy veddy bad for birdshits

Adding the four ratings from the previous table gives these totals and rankings:

| Rank | Group | Politics | Business | Academia | Technology | Total / 40 |

| ---- | ----------------- | -------- | -------- | -------- | ---------- | ---------- |

| 1 | Indian Americans | 7 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 35 |

| 2 | Chinese Americans | 6 | 8 | 10 | 10 | 34 |

| 3 | Irish Americans | 9 | 8 | 8 | 7 | 32 |

| 4 | Latino Americans | 8 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 30 |

| 5 | Italian Americans | 8 | 8 | 7 | 6 | 29 |

These are totals of the subjective ratings we assigned above, not empirically measured scores. The one-point differences shouldn't be interpreted as meaningful evidence that one group has contributed more overall than another.

Population size and time in the US also matter: the 2024 Census estimates, for example, count about 32.4 million people reporting Irish ancestry and 16.3 million reporting Italian ancestry.

Here is my subjective 1–10 rating of each group's historical and present-day contributions across the four sectors. These are judgments about the scale and visibility of contributions, not innate ability or worth.

| Group | Politics | Business | Academia | Technology |

| ----------------- | -------- | -------- | -------- | ---------- |

| Italian Americans | 8 | 8 | 7 | 6 |

| Irish Americans | 9 | 8 | 8 | 7 |

| Indian Americans | 7 | 9 | 9 | 10 |

| Chinese Americans | 6 | 8 | 10 | 10 |

| Latino Americans | 8 | 8 | 7 | 7 |

How to interpret the ratings:

* Politics: Irish and Italian Americans have had generations to build political influence; Indian American national visibility has grown rapidly. Chinese and Latino political representation also varies considerably by region and generation.

* Business: All five groups have made substantial contributions. Indian Americans are particularly visible in corporate technology leadership, while Latino-owned businesses have grown rapidly.

* Academia: Indian and Chinese Americans have particularly strong representation in several science and medical professions. For example, a 2022 workforce study found Indian and Chinese Americans together accounted for nearly 13% of US physicians.

* Technology: Chinese and Indian Americans have highly visible roles in computing, semiconductors, software, and engineering.

These numbers are not measured statistical scores. There is no reliable dataset that measures total contributions across all four sectors consistently for all five ancestry groups. The ratings also favor neither population size nor per-capita achievement consistently, so they should be treated as a rough discussion framework rather than a definitive league table.
