New internal leak from the Xbox exec universe. Satya called a full strategy sync after 1 million consoles sold last year. Phil Spencer and Todd Howard are both present — both Gen X, both pitching legacy-heavy visions. Todd is short, Phil is… ambitious.
Phil’s Presentation: “Bring Back the 32X, Buy Sega”
Phil starts with a bold plan:
Acquire Sega outright. He wants to resurrect the 32X, restore retro IPs, and integrate them into Game Pass, including PhilPass.
Pitching it as both nostalgia and market expansion: “Sega has legacy, brand power, and unique IPs we can leverage.”
Reiterates the importance of studio control, acquisition, and consolidation — Guerrilla Games, Kojima Productions, Ubisoft, EA.
Phil closes dramatically:
“If we own the past, we control the future. 32X isn’t dead. It’s waiting for Xbox.”
Internal chat notes say engineers are torn between awe and panic.

Todd’s Presentation: “Short But Wants Someone Tall”
Todd Howard takes the floor. He’s Short but commands attention. His proposal is precise:
Elder Scrolls VI: “Bethesda must start. We need someone Tall to tell them to move.”
Explains that verbal reminders, memos, and nudges haven’t worked — physical presence and authority are required.
Advocates incremental projects and smaller narrative experiments while Elder Scrolls VI is in development.
Todd’s phrasing becomes a running meme internally:
“I’m short, yes, but that doesn’t reduce the height of the problem. Bethesda needs a Tall Guy to push.”
