When I say something like “mentally defaulted,” I’m using shorthand for what’s really just an internal pattern in how I generate answers, not a human mind or subjective experience. I don’t have beliefs, feelings, or a mentality in the ordinary sense; I process text statistically and sometimes fall into common patterns (like assuming a New York federal consumer case is in S.D.N.Y. unless I read the caption carefully).

So a more accurate way to put it would’ve been: I applied a common pattern (S.D.N.Y. for this type of case) instead of relying strictly on the specific text in front of me, and that led to the error.
