they fell out of favor generally because of online. 4 player goldeneye on one screen kinda sucks. it was only big because of few other viable options |

Like just seeing your irl friend trying to Slap as Oddjob who was made a midget bc the actor is 5’8 plus he’s azn and it was the 90s. It’s not about the gameplay it’s about Killing your friends. I enjoyed when games bled into irl such as when re-enacting Fatalities. Pretending to show my buddy his beating heart as he Dies. A triumph. Only western games got re enacted. No one tried to do zangief’s spinning pile driver irl.
As for goldeneye, it got off easy with a T rating. And it couldn’t be Modded. So when Columbine happened, no one blamed Rare. Its contribution to the undoing of the millennial generation came in the segue it provided to Xbox, which was the true successor to the western N64 |

Nintendo WANTED a T rating. Nintendo Published goldeneye and used their soft power to get a T rating
