Surely St Tropaz will be the same nonsense every year?

I’m going on a road trip through Iowa-Nebraska-Kansas in Aug 😂. Did a 180 New Mexico road trip in Dec and in the spring we did that Nashville-Chatanooga-Tupelo-Oxford trip. I think there’s only a handful of states I haven’t been to, off the top of my head North Dakota, Alaska, Minn and Arkansas. Saving Alaska for either skiing or a late summer seaplane rating/bush flying course.

Getting to Des Moines for the last day of the Iowa State Fair, next stop I am going to visit a buddy in Omaha and do a day trip to the Strategic Air Command museum, from Nebraska down to Kansas City primarily for the WW1 memorial/museum and some BBQ. From there will stop in Lawrence on the way to Topeka overnight, see the capitol I guess. Next to Wichita. Going to see if I can get a tour of the Cessna operation and go to the aviation museum. From there will go to Dodge City to see the Wild West history. Final leg is stopping in Abilene for the Eisenhower Library on the way to the LITTLE APPLE where I will see KSU's season opener. Flying home out of there.

Both of those towns seem underrated but I've been there more than a few times and the weather is total shit 12 months a year. 90 degrees with 90 % humidity all summer and 40 below all winter

I think that season is the spring.

Hopefully you're going to see the land before the corn has been harvested bc it's kind of bleak and the drives are hours and hours.

This part of the country is interesting because the little towns are still in use. It doesn't have the rust belt ghost town vibe

They're also nice af. On the drive down from Omaha I stopped in a town called Auburn which is cute and ate at a subway.

We definitely got the "who the fuck are you" vibes but once I explained who tf i was all the old farmer dudes were super cool and the two old white ladies behind the counter helped my game the sandwich order so I could save 35 cents

I don't have any opinions on the KC BBQ places so won't recommend anything. I wasn't that thrilled with where we ate

Old Market in Omaha is nice but small, but it's nice to see it hasn't been taken over by big box stores. Just ate at a place there called anthem which i can recommend. I think the city is nicer as a resident and I don't know the neighborhoods. The zoo is really nice though I have to say.

That's great. You can tell that the place has hidden gems. We ate at Arthur Bryant's in kc by the way and looking at reviews now it's pretty polarizing but I workshop recommend it. Sauce was good but food was binge dry

I was at the World Cup and saw France v Senegal at Giants Stadium. Also the 2010 and 2014 World Cup. I always only go for 7-10 days not the whole time.

Fair enough.

I remember you posting a ton about World Cup back in the day. All sorts of videos of people having a blast with this one and kooky foreigners seeing America for the first time.

Giants stadium is a TTT in decline. Maybe the worst stadium. Don’t think you got much of the atmosphere there. Also NYC so big it didn’t have the atmosphere of the other host sites.

Atmospherewise this was not the best World Cup. Too many host cities in too many countries. NY never really had that World Cup feel you got in Cape Town or Rio where people were really concentrated.

Having it in football stadiums 50 miles away from the city was bad for this community party sensation. I agree. Makes the Doha camp sites look favorable.

Still people loved America and the C-list cities so that has been cool
