It seemed out of place, like it was from a Different Game. Then there was that guy inside, turning that crank, a metaphor for the zeitgeist of the 1990s. Japan, in the throes of its Lost Decade, faced economic stagnation and a crisis of confidence, much like the man’s futile efforts with the crank, going nowhere yet unable to stop. His actions, repetitive and seemingly without purpose, mirrored the feeling of many during this period - a sense of being caught in a Cycle, unable to break free from economic and societal forces beyond their control
